Go with you heart. If you don't, you'll just end up leading this poor girl on and breaking her heart in the end.

Take a chance, if it doens't work out, then at least you won't hold on to "what could have been."

You should never ask a girl out unless you are truly interested. If you think she would make a good friend, then ask her to go as friends. If you're not even interested in friendship then DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT ASKING HER. If you take the girl that likes you, but you don't like her, then she'll be able to tell when you guys are at homecoming together. And if you don't follow up with some kind of relationship (even just friends) after homecoming she'll probably feel like you just used her as a date because you were desperate and couldn't find someone else that wanted to go with you. Trust me, a girl's bad experience with a homecoming date can have very negative effects on the guy. The last thing you want is for all the girls at your school to think you're just out to take advantage of any girl who's lonely and has a crush on you.
You should ask the girl you're attracted to. Just don't wait too long. If you wait someone else could ask her or she may think that she was your last resort instead of your first pick. Also, if she turns you down you'll have enough time to find someone else.
If all else fails, get all your friends to agree to go as a group that way you can all hang out together at homecoming without feeling like you're intruding on someone's date in order to have a good time. Believe it or not there will be people there without dates. If you go without a girl on your arm, then you'll be able to dance with any girl without worrying about hurting your date's feelings. Also, the rest of the girls there will see that you're confident enough to go alone and will be more likely to approach you for a dance.

Find out how the girl that you like really feels about you now. You shouldn't be with the other girl if you don't like her or feel attracted to her.
