I have been married for 12 years, and my husband passed away a year ago. I think that I am ready to start a new relationship, but not sure how to go about it. I also have two kids that say it is alright for me to have a boyfriend, but they dont want a new father.

Man that's kind of deep my father passed when I was 9 so I can see things from your kids perspective. It will take time. I would say maybe starting with a mutual acquaintance that you might be interested in and know something about already. Also take it slow you honored your husband hopefully by being a good wife for 12 years. No need for you to be lonely now. Don't rush in but take your time it will work out.

Its a lot easier now days, with speed dating, The best way is to become more active, join clubs, Dance class, art class, dog exercise class if you have a dog.

Bar/clubs are OK but its a game of chance. Try good website like mysinglefriend. that way your meeting people with the same things you like.

Be bold its 2006 and men like confidant women.
Take your time, dont rush, single life is brilliant... and a great way to meet people. If you see some one you like, do something about it, talk to them... "Lovely day is it?" or "I like your shirt" a little hint, men like complements too! break the ice you never know! then ask if they fancy a coffee some time.

Listen to your kids! they already have a father. life's too short! you know that.... so go out and enjoy it!

Good luck.

Go find an activity that you enjoy, bicycling, painting, sailing, and that will give you a way to meet people with similar interests.
You need to make sure it's something you really enjoy, not just something to catch a guy.
