Running shoes are a man's best friend, so what types of running do you do ? there are many types of running shoes let me list it out

1) Marathon
2) Gym on the treadmill
3) Trail
4) Sprint
5) Training
6) Adventure
7) 5 - 10k Run

so it all depends on what kind of running you want to do, and yes the arches of the feet plays a very big role in choosing your shoes. ensure that when you buy your Shoes its after 12pm as that is the time where the day is hot and your feet has done a couple of walks and i am sure it would have expanded.

there are three types of arch, flat, mid and high. to check on how your feet arch.. place a paper on the floor and dip the bottom of the feet in water and then place it on the paper, if you see the whole surface being covered with your feet its flat.. and so on ..

as for the shoe brands. you would never go wrong with Asics, Brooks, Mizuno and New Balance. all specialty running shoes !

I had problems with 2 Nike Shox recently, will never buy Nike again. Bought a pair of Asics 6 months ago and find them very comfortable. Also heard that Mizzunos are great. If you are in London go to Harrods, 5th floor, they'll film you running on a treadmill with different shoes and recommend the best one for you. You can then buy there or somewhere else if you want although I think prices don't differ much.

The first thing you need to do is find out your foot type. If you have flat feet, you'll need motion control shoes; normal feet need stablitiy type; higher arches need a neutral, well cushoined shoe. I have high arches, so I stick with the Nike Air Pegasus; I hear my more normal running buddies rave about the Asics GT-2110. Check out Road Runner Sports online, or even better, go to a local running store, and let them find the best for you.

the big brands say that their trainners are good for about 200 miles (thats not a lot) so buy wisely my asics are brill the best and i have had lots of pairs
