Our family (kids ages 8 and 11) are traveling along the coast in California just after Christmas. What should we see between San Francisco and Los Angeles? We have two days to travel and explore. We will stay overnight in San Simeon.

What are Panzanoes? To all others, thanks for the info on Monterey. My husband and I visited Monterey last year and it was absolutely beautiful. We are from the East so seeing the California coast is a treat.

If you are taking Hwy 1 through Big Sur, be sure to stop at Pt. Lobos as well as Julia Pfeiffer Beach. JP has a fresh-water waterfall that falls right into the ocean... great scenery! Of course, do Hearst Castle... Stop at San Buena Ventura (take the Main Street exit off of Hwy 101 South...it will drop you right in the heart of antique stores and upscale thrift stores... there is a HUGE park there for the kids as well).... You can also stop at the pier in Santa Barbara...and if you make it through L.A. stop at the Griffith Park Train Park... Take the Forest Lawn Drive exit off of the 134 Hwy (which the 101 will take you to the 134) and follow the signs. The LA Zoo is recently remodeled...but it tends to be a "concrete jungle" with a lot of walkways... animals are actually more active around Chrismastime... it is cooler. The Gene Autry Museum (cowboy stuff) is right across the street from the zoo.

Check out the elephant seals right by San Simeon. They start coming out in January sometime. There is a deck that you can stand and watch them. Take the 17 mile drive. Eat breakfast at the Apple Farm in San Luis Opisbo if you can. They have a great gift shop there too. Enjoy that is my favorite part of California.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey is a great place to visit, both kids and adults can enjoy it. Plus the area of Monterey and Carmel are beautiful, great beach towns, good shopping and site seeing.

I chosen those with the aid of fact the California wineries to bypass to with the aid of fact of their background and their surprising popularity among my acquaintances. i become surprised at how relaxing and relaxing each vineyard and vineyard become. each and each had its very own unique merchandising element, like Sanford’s background with the aid of fact the oldest vineyard in Santa Barbra, Elke Vineyards love for classic bottles and wine, and Donkey & Goat’s doubtless unusual namesake.
