because as you can see by the answers here, christians are taught and believe (I was there too at one time) that God's perfect instruction was 'done away with ' when Jesus came- this is not true- the dietary laws were not done away with, the OT or old covenant was not done away with. This is a lie from Satan to confuse Christians and keep them from living a blessed and abundant life.
No one is going to go to hell for eating pork- that is what was done away with - the idea that the law saves - pork is still unclean and still not meant for human consumption and still just as bad for your body as the day God created it. Pigs are the only animal to sweat internally pushing all of the toxins in the skin into the meat, thereby making the meat poisonous to the body- any good dietician, Chrisitan, Jewish or not will tell you this today.
Want to avoid certain health problems that are totally avoidable, want to live a healthy and blessed and abundant life free of certain preventable diseases that God never intended His people to have to contend with? Then eat God's way and not the flawed way of man.
Jesus dod not bring anarchy! He said, not one jot or tittle would be removed from the law- he did not do away with it (and neither did Peter, by what authority would he have to do away with an instruction of God Himself??) He fulfilled or perfected it- He showed us how to walk in God's perfect instruction BECAUSE we are saved not in order to be saved and removed all of the 'extras' being taught as law by the rabbinical Jews of the day.
God's law never changed! We are free from the law of sin and death - not the perfect instruction of God.

In the New Testament part of the Bible, it says let no man judge you in meat or drink. That means that we're not obligated toward eating a certain type food to prove our Christianity.
The reason that is in the Bible is because pork is unhealthy. Pigs carry lots of disease. It was more for sanitary reasons than anything else. The revolutionary ideas brought forth in the Bible's Old Testament which set the Jews apart, have been found to be scientifically correct. At the time it was written, ppl didn't know about germs, etc, or that pork was unhealthy. We now know that it is, and in some racial groups, it causes high blood pressure and other ailments. But, being clear, it has nothing to do with being a good Christian.

I don't know where you ever got the information that Christians are not suppose to eat pork, there are no dietary laws associated with being a Christian today.
We are not concerned with what goes into your body, but your actions toward your fellow man that come from your body and your mind. We are interested in helping people, showing kindness, encouragement to those who are having trouble.
I don't care, nor do I believe our Lord and Savior Jesus, Son of God, cares WHAT you eat, only that you be thankful and share with those who have nothing.
The red words in our Bible are in the New Testament only, they are the words of Jesus! You will not find him telling us not to eat pork.
Be sure you don't take a sentence out of context, but study the whole chapter (in the Bible) and get the meaning. But I was under the impression that it was against the laws of Mohammad to have a Bible.

Thats funny. Many of the answer that are given are saying that it is an old testiment/covenent thing and does not apply to todays world.
Then I ask this. Why did Jesus say I come not to destroy the law but fullfill it. If the laws where to be done away with I think it would say I have come to fulfill the law and destroy the old ones. Then he would have put new ones in place. The only thing he replaced was the sacrifial lamb. (He became the lamb.)

Pigs in hot countries get swine fever and can be dangerous to eat so Biblical people were taking a risk especially a small army crossing a desert (the Israelites). Now it is less of problems in developed countries so Old Testament rules are out the window.

You can't just throw down some phantom scripture and then walk away without citing it. Try reading Matthew 6:25 The RED LETTERS clearly state that we can eat anything we want.

Isa 66:16 For by fire will Yahweh execute judgment, and by his sword, on all flesh; and the slain of Yahweh shall be many.
17 "Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves to go to the gardens, behind one in the midst, eating pig's (swine's) flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, they shall be consumed together," says Yahweh.
Abomination! Can you say abomination? This is what scripture says you'll become if you eat swines flesh
a‧bom‧i‧na‧tion [uh-bom-uh-ney-shuhn]
–noun 1. anything abominable; anything greatly disliked or abhorred.
2. intense aversion or loathing; detestation: He regarded lying with abomination.
3. a vile, shameful, or detestable action, condition, habit, etc.: Spitting in public is an abomination.

Prove it. Its all hearsay evidence. The burden of proof that Christians are forbidden to have pork is on you. It is not "clearly mentioned."

Jesus came to do away with the law. The Jewish people followed this Old Testament law and some still do. This does not involve Christians.
