I have heard of all the negative effects, but i have also heard that nail biting can increase your imune system because of all the different germs that your body is exposed to it will eventually develop immunities. I have also heard that it can help make your hair grow, but that one seems fdar fetched. Can anybody shed some light on the issue, and if so, can you provide links to the proof?

Hi Greta Yep - since I was about 5 I think. As a guy, I've not tried acrylic nails or polish. Doubt they would have helped though - it's a tough habit to break

If you want a good immune system focus on getting good nutrition. Don't bite your nails, who knows where they have been! I used to bite my nails all the time and finally just started cutting them really short all the time so that there was nothing to bite.
