when someone experiences a difficult spell the best thing you can do is be there for her, let her know that you care through your actions.

suggestions:
1. sit with her even when she has nothing to say and doesn't want to do anything
2. run her errands for her, like walk her dog or fill her car up with gas, pick up her dry cleaning - just something so she can spend her time with her brother and family and not worry about day to day life
3. cook for her/her family (or if you're not a good cook, order food)
4. put yourself in her shoes, what would you want done for you?

good luck and I hope the brother turns out okay

Just be there for her. Maybe there is nothing you can do right now to make her happy or put a smile on her face, because it's just a hellish place for her right now. But you can be there and offer to support her.
Tell her to call you anytime for anything you can do, even if it's just to talk or take her mind off of things. Let her talk about her fears for her brother, and validate those concerns, but offer a hopeful view. (There's nothing worse than having someone dismiss or minimalize your concerns in an attempt to stop your worrying).
Give her a little gift that she can carry around with her, like a locket or a small stuffed animal, and tell her that even when you're not with her, this can stay with her and absorb all her sorrow and worry and give her back your love. It might be cheesy, but it's touching and mgiht be a comfort to her.

hope everything turns out all right.

Give her a hug. Whisper in her ear that everything will be alright. Let her know that you will do anything you can do to make her feel better. She will get over it eventually, especially if the surgery goes well. Besides, if she really does love to be around you, she will be happy that you will be there for her, and it will make her happy knowing that you are both in it together. After the initial shock of the news blows past and she feels a little better, do something fun with her to get her mind off of it for a little while. She will be grateful that she could forget her worries for a while and will want to do it again.

Just be there for her. Some people need space when they are upset. But some people need their loved ones around. Just try to feel her out to see which type she is. But I think that if you stick by her side, she will realize just how much you care. So don't leave her side, and still try to put a smile on her face. I hope her brother's surgery goes well. Good luck!

Just tell her you are there if she needs you. Offer to be at the hospital with her. Offer to help her parents in any way- if they need errands doing, or someone to do things while the brother is in the hospital, or even if you can cook -or buy- dinner for their family. Stop trying to put a smile on her face- it's not the time to be acting like a clown.
Once the surgery is over and the brother is on the mend, things will improve.

well, the fact you took the time to ask this already shows you're a cring bf. Just be there for her, there's not you can actually DO. When she cries about it, listen and hold her and tell her it'll be ok. Go with her to see him in the hospital in case she's not brave enough to go alone. That's probably all she needs. Maybe make her dinner so she doesn't have any extrra chores too....

when he goes into surgery, be there. make her know and understand, that you love him too. you have to be like family right now. if she is really upset maybe try to take her mind off of it without making it seem like it's nothing. take her out to dinner, tell her you are praying about it, and make her feel comfort. also, believe everything will be alright. i had this happen to me, and that is all i needed. be a friend, but also, be family.

You are a good person. Well, buy her little brother a small gift. And be at your girlfriend's side any moment she needs somebody to talk to.
