Yes, I got married there at that time. We stayed at the Waikiki Sunset for one week. It rained about 15 minutes a day and the temp ranged from 74-80 each day, and 65-70 at night. good luck.

I do however recommend that you go to one of the other islands that arent so "tourist friendly" to appreciate more of Hawaii's natural beauty.

The weather in Hawaii depends on where you're located on each island. The East side gets the trade winds and can be rainy and chilly. The West side winds are blocked by mountain ranges and could be dry and hot. January is usually the ending of winter in Hawaii. There could be rain and it could be chilly - 65 degrees at night. I would suggest going to the Hilton Waikoloa on the Island of Hawaii West side. The hotel is simply awesome. A choice of a boat or a tram takes you the 1/2 mile from one end of the hotel to the other. Another option is to walk along the hotel's coastline pass the flamingos and fish ponds. There are five swimming pools on one end and a huge swimming pool on the other end. In the middle is a salt water lagoon teeming with fish and turtles. Next to the lagoon is the porpoise pool where you may sign up to get a chance to swim with the resident porpoises. There are all the amenities of a luxury hotel including many fine dining choices. This hotel has been and is still our family's favorite place to vacation in Hawaii.

Oahu in winter wasn't all that great. There were more cloudy days than sunny days and it didn't get hot enough to enjoy the water when I was there.

I stayed at Turtle Bay Hilton on the north shore. What a change of scenary from the congested traffic and impacted hotel jungle in Honolulu! You can swim out to the lagoon next to the hotel and see amazing variety of fish while you snorkel, just down the elevator.

You can perhaps go to Maui or Molokai for sunshine. Anyhoo, don't get discouraged because I'd rather be in Hawaii in the rain than a sunny day here in San Francisco! :o)
