I believe they choose and because the topic is so open to discussion they may think they were born this way by early exposure . Especially today when everything is so blatant and even the most vigilent parent may not protect their children from everything.

I was born in the early sixties. My generation was blessed. I was fully grown before I knew what a homosexual was and then I'd never met one. All the variations: cross dressers, lesbians, bisexuals, these are concepts I've seen on talk shows watching in stunned perplexity as an adult that this should be on daytime television. In my day talk shows were variety hours with a host and performing guests who usually sang. Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, Dinah Shore. Boring as hell for kids and we went off and played somewhere.

I believe to a certain extent that children's aspirations are limited to their exposure. I wanted to be a nurse because I'd been to the doctor and I got nurse sets for Christmas. There were no music videos, no cussing song lyrics, people knew how to pull up their pants and tie their shoes.

I have respect for the rights of all people and whatever orientation they choose, but I sometimes just look at the babies and want to scream,

"HEY! BACK IN THE CLOSET EVERYONE AND GIVE CHILDREN A CHANCE TO GROW UP INNOCENT!"

Ok, that sounds biased and those who are gay will think I'm one of those people who is so biased I am ignorant of the fact, but I'm not. Be what you want. Say the closet was just awfully crowded in my day. Maybe it was, but at least children had a chance to be kids and maybe more likely to be the "orientation" that matched their anatomy.

Please respect my opinion. Expressing varying opinions is what this forum is all about.

I think most people that are gay are born that way. There are others;the ones that have had experiences ,some good and some bad, that turn to the same sex for what they have come to know as love. In either case, with the way the world treats gay people,do you think this is a life style that people would choose if they had another choice?

People are born homosexual or heterosexual. It's attraction. If you are attracted to men, and you yourself are a man, it's because of what your body and mind are telling you. It is not wrong and it is not a disorder. You can't choose to be gay or not to be gay. Of course, some people may try to stop being gay, but that is nearly impossible. You can't change the way your body works. Just like people are born with a mental disorder (not comparing homosexuality to a mental disorder! just an EXAMPLE). When someone is born mentally ill they cannot say "Hey! I think I'm going to stop being sick!" Doesn't work. Homosexuality is NOT a choice.

And anyone who thinks it's such a sin really needs to rethink "God." Why would "God" make people this way, if it was so horribly wrong? They ARE made that way. Born that way. It's not wrong. Crazy people.. I hope your "God" saves your soul, because you really really need it..

Both. The ones that are truly gay were born that way . There have been studies about it. People that are gay have donated their bodies to science. They found parts in the brain of the gay men that were feminine and were only supposed to exist in the females brain. What more proof does anyone need ? There are people that choose to be gay or bisexual just for attention.
That's scientifically speaking.

Religiously speaking - we are all given things in our lives that we need to overcome. I think that people that people were given the opportunity to be gay, but they are supposed to resist the urge. Just like some of us need to resist the urge to drink or do drugs .

studies on identical twins have shown that people are born gay. a lot of people refuse to believe this but think about it like this, who would choose to live a life of ridicule and harassment? nobody. and think if all the sudden society changed and now being straight was "wrong", could you just change your mind/heart and start loving someone of the same sex? i sure couldnt.

Choose to be gay. We are all born with a sin nature; it is up to us to give in to it or to choose God's way.

I think some people are born gay. I think others like in my neighbors case are subjecting their children into a gay relationship, keeping their little girls hair shaved like a boys, and dressing her into boy clothes will push thier girls to be gay.

I don't see all gay relationships pushing their children into a situation where their child(ren) will be gay. I have a couple of friends who are gay and their children are all themselves, all 7 of them.

I know it's a choice the person makes, not becuase s/he is born that way. If anyone tells you that, they're just trying to make an excuse about their decision about their sexual life. My brother, who is homosexual, told me that it is a CHOICE, and anyone that says anything else is either still confused , ashamed, or they're only saying it because they themselves could still be 'in the closet' and don't want others to know.

As a friend of gays, I tell you, they're born gay. Something in them is just that way. My best friend in Minneapolis was a gay man, son of my steady guy up there; I had 3 or 4 adopted gay guys all in their 20s (made for some interesting evenings out) that I fed and mothered, and not one of them claimed it was a choice. In fact, my 'stepson' wanted, desperately, to be straight, or possibly bi, to please his father, as his father's only living son, he wanted to have children, for the family name and all that, and he just couldn't do it.
