I've never heard of it before, but it's possible that the rubber bands are squeezing your teeth together causing the headaches.

I had braces for 3 years at the age of 41. When they told me to start wearing rubber bands I got terrible headaches. Hang in there, they will go away soon after your jaw muscles get used to the extra tension.

Wear them as much as your orthodontist says to wear them. Your bite will probably not be fully corrected by your next appointment, but it is very important that you wear the rubber bands so it can be fixed as quickly as possible. On your next appointment, your orthodontist will probably change the thickness of the rubber bands and/or the way you wear them to facilitate this.

I had braces for two years with bands and I about died. I took 4 500mg advil everyday because my head or mouth hurt so bad. I could hardly eat anything. So yes, it is normal to feel like your head is going to cave in on you lol.

Yes, there is a constant pressure being put on your jaws and teeth. Take Tylenol or whatever the orthodontist tells you.
