The way they do it on all of those Youtube videos (at least the good ones) requires a little bit of assembly.
First drill a small hole in the cap of the bottle (1/4" should work).
Then attach the mentos to a string. I have never done this so I imagine you could drill a small hole in each mentos, knot the string at the end and thread them like beads. Perhaps some kind of mesh bag would also work.
Now put the free end of the string through the hole in the bottle cap and attach a clothespin to it so the mentos attached to the string dangle below the cap.
Then pour a small amount of the coke out so there is enough room at the top of the bottle for the suspended mentos. Carefully put the cap on the bottle and feed the hanging mentos into the cavity at the top of the bottle and screw it on tightly.
You are now ready! Remove the clothespin when you are ready for a geyser and the mentos should fall down into the coke. The smaller hole in the bottlecap acts to increases the pressure and decreases the volume of coke fizz that can escape the bottle. This makes it shoot higher and last longer than if you do it without the hole in the bottle cap.
Do not do this indoors!
Very similar to how jet engines work.

Hola! I had the great fortune to witness this first-hand & it is glorious. Try to make a paper funnel or simply get someone to hold the bottle while you cup your hands and drop those babies in there! You should also know that the chemical reaction is very fast- so be warned! You might want blast goggles and a rubber bib!

First you need to use Diet Coke. Make a funnel out of a piece of paper and drop them in that way. It isn't all its cracked up to be. You'll be disappointed.

That being said, try slicing it in pieces with a sharp knife. And make sure it's Diet Coke.
