This reminds me of a maintenance worker that had a drawing of how to hook up a particular piece of equipment, but installed it completely different from the drawing. When asked why he didn't follow the drawing, he said he knew I must not have known how to put it together because I wrote NTS at the bottom of the drawing. He interpreted this to mean "Not To Sure". So, in that light, I guess it could mean Born on Monday, Big Old Machine, but most educated people would go with bill of material.

Bill of materials.
No this is not just about what material the component is made from.
It specifies:-
Part Number/material specification/Engineering drawings used /any revisions or changes made/any additional processes required/any certificates required.....etc.
Most useful in the aerospace industry where traceability right back to the source of the material is vital/

Bill of materials, this is basically the materials needed to assembly something, probably if talking about engineering, you will have here the revision number or engineering level, cost per item and quantity per each items, thou the cost is not always included.

bill of materials
Document used by a manufacturer or other business to authorize a set of purchases to be made or to request materials to be pulled from inventory in order to fulfill a customer order. The bill of materials indicates the specifications for each item and the company representative to whom delivery should be made. Marketers of industrial goods and raw materials can gain insight into the buying habits of their customers from the information in the bill of materials, including who is authorizing the purchase and/or selecting the vendors and what product characteristics drive their decisions. A bill of materials is also used to provide input to cost accounting systems in order to calculate the cost of goods produced.
