To end rape is to educate all people to have a healthy respect for the rights and freedoms of each human.

Without that respect, rapists and murderers arise.

Whomever is growing up thinking rape and murder are "okay" is obviously cut off from all positive ethical influences. Whom are you not reaching, and what will you do to change it?

Unlike religion, I would teach that sex is not a bad thing. I think that much of the perversion in this country is caused by repressed sexuality. If you teach kids from the time they're young that women are property and sex is evil, you'll get those who do it for the thrill. You get men who can't express their sexuality and are frustrated that some women are more successful than them.

If you treat sex more naturally, you make it less of a big deal. Fewer men will feel the need to dominate women in that way and women won't be as traumatized by the act. It would take the dirtiness out of sex.

Like I said before, rape has nothing to do with faith. Rape is about control and degredation. Most rapists have been brought up in a very religious house. You want to stop rape, stand up to abusivepeople, and educate people aout the real cause of rape.

No. The two are not interwoven. Rape and murder are progressions in a chain of thought that occurs in the mind of someone who is not mentally whole to begin with. Perhaps there is a spiritual void as well, but for the most part, it is a failure inside themselves to recognize right from wrong even when it has been taught to them. Sort of like a short circuit somewhere.

This is a great question, everyone can help a little. I am a christian but I can only tell someone how important it is to respect others and that every life is special even when theyve made you mad or hurt you in some way. I try to show them a more constructive way to get it out, unless the person is just an idiot then I leave it up to God.

Thank you for understanding and reminding us that rape is not about sex. Kudos.
The r & m tragedy are trumpeted through out media/entertainment. The trumpet is loud and not easily muted. I am not reaching the world, but I am praying for it.
Each day I have a different continent where I pray for each country. I have found pastors in Haiti, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Burundi to help with the education of children and their survival. I send them money.
Then I tutor 3rd graders in reading. In our state, the # of prison cells needed in the future is determined by the # of 3rd graders who can't read.
Thus, I falter and fall, but continue to stand against this monster you identify.

Like rapists don't go to church fireball, you are so naiive, rapists probably believe in Jesus and god, they just have no respect for their victims

Rape is about power and de-humanizing your victim be they a woman or a man. Rapists often hate women and hold them in low esteem, that is also why str8 men rape gay guys

I actually think this is less an issue for religion and more an issue for education.

It is necessary that along with better sex-education (including more information on safe sex *NOT* abstinence only programs) we begin educating young people what boundaries MUST be respected. If we can't talk about health uses of sex, how are we going to teach how to not abuse each other using sex?

When I was in college I was SHOCKED at the number of otherwise bright, compassionate young men who thought it completely acceptable to have sexual contact with people who were too intoxicated to consent. To me this is directly related to the fact that they have never been taught appropriate boundaries and respect.

Most rapists and murderers do not think rape and murder are ok. That's why they try to hide the evidence.

I think the majority of rapists realize rape is NOT ok. They do it because it gives them a sense of power.

Great question...
Aren't Xians supposed to reach out to the scum?

But I wouldn't say they are cut off from positive influence, after all, some are catholic priests! (But I think I contradict myself there!)
