i have put 2 links below, one on ibuprophen and one on paracetelmol
people refer to Tylenol as a drug (it is a brand!!)
both help with pain, i would say they are for 2 different types of pain
I prefer not to take ibuprophen (i just don't like it) i do not like to take acetaminophen however it gets rid of the occasional headache in 20 minutes (for me)
there are so many drugs that can or may be added to the 2 drugs you have listed..so it is difficult to help..I prefer over the counter Mersyndol for any thing other than a headache..it is acetaminophen with a small amout of codiene and a muscle relaxer added as well..but i find it does nothing for my headaches for those i use just acetaminophen

Ibuprofen....inhibits inflammation, reduces fever, and has pain relieving properties....BUT it can cause stomach bleeding and irritation and is therefore recommended to be taken with food.
Acetaminophen (paracetamol)....does NOT inhibit inflammation but is a true pain reliever, and fever reducer.
BUT...in large quantities (doses) WILL cause PERMANENT liver damage. Be careful when taking over the counter products that contain acetaminophen, the doses do add up. Tylenol (brand name in USA) is not as safe as the TV ads would have you believe....don't take more than the label says, and don't take more than one product that has Tylenol in it at the same time or even in the same day.I have personally seen people that have been brought to our emergency room (I work in a local hospital) from an accidental Tylenol overdose.
Ibuprofen and Tylenol are two completely different chemicals and neither contains any codeine what so ever......!!!!!!!
And remember anyone under the age of 17 should NOT use aspirin for any purpose unless expressly told to do so by a doctor.

Ibuprofen - anti inflamatory and analgesic Paracetamol - analgesic. Both can be used alternatively to manage the discomfort of pain and inflamation over a longer period of time.
Ibuprofen needs to be taken with food as it can irritate the stomach lining. If correct dosage is given and there is no medical history which taking this medication could affect then pain relief can be reasonably long term

ibuprofen is a stronger drug...but from a personal point of view i would rather take paracetamol..they're mild enough to be able to take during pregnancy without any side effects, and i've known ibuprofen after long term use to have caused a stomach ulcer.
ibuprofen is mainly made up of paracetamol but also contains codeine.

Ibuprofen is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory
Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain killer) and antipyretic (fever reducing).
If taken within the appropriate limits neither should cause long term damage.
However the lethal dose of paracetamol is frighteningly low. And be careful, it's in all kinds of stuff like flu remedies.
I prefer aspirin.

Ibuprofen is good for muscular pains, although it can affect a sensitive stomach, paracetamol is good for cold/flu type as it lowers your temperature and eases feverish symptoms, aspirin does the same but it is reckoned that paracetamol is kinder to the system, but aspirin is good for people with heart problems as it thins the blood a little and makes it easier to flow round the body. Women take whatever will help them at period time.

paracetamol is just a pain killer for mild to severe pain like headaches where as ibuprofen has an anti inflamatory in it so would help more for sprains
