In Matt 27, it says
"When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders.
"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood."
"What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself." (Matt 27:3-5).

However, looking at Acts 1, I read that apparently:
"With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood." (Acts 1:18-19)

So, did he hang himself, or did he fall into his field and have his intestines spill?

Also, while I appreciate the agreement and all, I would prefer actual answers.

But how could he give the money to the priests, and then use the same money (which he would no longer have) to buy a field?

Acts 1: 18-19 Yes it is a correlation to Matthew 27: 3-5, The simplest explanation may be found in the principle that, wherein as Acts Luke records all events (such as the acts of Judas), Matthew is distinguishing between what Judas did and what the priest's did, just as the priest's were the ones who purchased Potter's field with Judas's money after his death, so Judas may have fallen only in that he was thrown down upon the rocks of that field.

I have checked this out for someone else once. The answers are:

Judas threw the money to the floor, the priests never took it back so Judas was left with it. He used it to buy the field.

'Hanged himself' is an expression meaning to commit suicide. It doesn't literally meaning to hang yourself but can mean that at times. The most popular form of ritual suicide in the east was to fall on your sword in such a way that it disembowelled you. It is still used by some eastern countries today and the most widely known is the Japanese.

From what I have understood, the money he returned to the priests was used to buy a potter's field to bury him in so that any hallowed ground would not be corrupted by him since he committed suicide. They usually let bodies hang for several days, so I can imagine that he was pretty bloated when they dumped him off the back of the wagon (they didn't deserved graves or tombs, either) and would pop like an over-ripe watermelon....
They could have both logically happened but you have to figure out the order that each statement goes in since they are from two different books and authors. He could have bought the field years before he traveled with Christ...

I think it's a little of both. I think he bought the field and then went to hang himself in that field. In Acts it does not say how his intestines spilled out. I suppose that it could have spilt after his body was left rotting and hanging there.

He hanged himself and while he was trying to step off the tree limb, he fell because the limb was to light to hold his weight. Thus the spilling of his intestines. Must have been a real buzz kill.

He hung himself, the limb broke, he fell headlong and his body burst open, and he was buried in a field called the field of blood.

History has not recorded anymore facts than those you have quoted. I have interpreted it as hung/fell/spill.
Usually history records only those things that are thought to be important for the future. Judas, having betrayed Christ, twice - once to the authorities and once by not believing Christ's love would forgive him, had none (importance).

He hanged himself than the rope broke and the body fell and split open.

Judas and Pontius Pilate moved to San Francisco. They run an antique store together, and are happily married gay couple.
