wait until next summer - natural highlights are so fun! it's only fun though if you get them from the sun. kind of like a tan - it's only fun if you get it from being at the beach, or the pool, etc.

I have long hair so I don't experiment much with the cut, so I play around with the color. Usually I go lighter in the Spring throughout Summer and then come Fall I go darker throughout the Winter. And repeat. Depending on where you live, doing this makes your hair color more "believeable". During the Summer the sun will lighten most people's hair, so having high-lights during this time looks natural. In the Winter, people's hair looses it's high-lights from the Summer.
So, depending on what look you want you should dye accordingly. My suggestion, have fun during the winter and put some low-lights in. A darker brown shade or a reddish shade (red highlights don't last long but I love them for the brief time I have them!)

I would wait until the summer, the ones you had were natural therefore they looked natural. I think highlights just look weird during the winter, I mean who spends that much time in the sun in the winter. To me it is the same as having a dark tan in the winter, it is unnatural, unless you were born with a darker skin tone.

My hair changed into quite damaged through too in many situations coloring/highlights/daily blow drying and flat iron. i do not opt to apply any better chemical substances on my hair till it grows out and able to diminish the brittle ends. in line with advice of my daughter, I went to Ulta and offered the Alterna Caviar hair products. It without delay stopped the ends into breaking and made my hair gentle. i latterly tried on my very darkish brown hair the cinnamon/honey/olive oil mix; left it on my hair for an hour. It slightly lighten my hair so i'm planning to do this back. AS someone reported, this would take some tries in the previous I executed the lightness i choose.

Here's what I do. I go by seasons:

My hair is naturally dark honey, but in the spring and summer, I keep it a medium gold. In the autumn I do it reddish, and in the winter I do it dark brown.

All of these are temporary shades, of course.

I pick colors by the seasons. It keeps hair coloring fun and adds variety. Plus I don't get stuck with a permanent color this way.

Usually in the winter I try to go darker. My hair is a natural chestnut, so each winter I dye it fairly dark to carry me through the winter. One winter I dyed it blonde, and it looked out of place in winter.

If you want to use high-lights, have fun. Have you ever tried low-lights? Those can be fun too.

I think highlights in the winter should be ok because the sun still shines. A lot of people lighten up in winter because they are in the house a lot. You will still see your highlight, and they may look better because the sun won't fry them as bad as in the winter. GO FOR IT!

It's already lightened by the sun in the summer, so I say go dark, plus colours around in fashion and nature would blend better.

Highlights are fun...I just dye my hair year round, so I don't have to worry about fading color. My hair hasn't been it's natural color since I was 17!
