Like, is there a part of Canada were other Canadians consider them something like what we consider rednecks in the south, or hillbillys, whatever you wanna call it.

Alleycat wanted to know why I asked this so here it is lol:

I live just across Lake Erie from Canada, across from Ontario. And We've gone through there a couple times. It's usually quicker to get to Toronto through Windsor, and you gotta drive all the way up on the other side. It's all country side on the drive up, and you swear your in Georgia or something, especially with all the XXX billboards they have lol. So yeah, I was just wondering.

Well, I live in Calgary, Alberta and I always hear people say that Alberta is a redneck province, especially the city of Calgary. The funny thing is, I'm not really sure what a redneck is, because I've seen the redneck jokes and stuff, but I don't see it as being that way where I live.

Think about it...I could be redneck and not even know it! lol Maybe that's why there is always a lot of jokes starting, " You might be a redneck if you...." Didn't Jeff Foxworthy do that better than most?

I can see it if it means cowboy boots, hats and horses, too, but not in a "hillbilly" kind of way!

I guess it's a good thing I don't go around telling redneck jokes because I could be laughing at myself!

In my opinion, Canada does not have rednecks! (But what do I know?)

Edit: I did a quick survey of my area to look for rednecks, but I couldn't spot any! I have a couple of questions that might help me recognize one when I see one:
1) Do they drive Hummers?
2) Do they live in 1/2 million dollar houses or condos?
3) Do they go to "The West Edmonton Mall" on the weekends?
4) Do they go skiing on the weekends to Banff or Lake Louise in winter?
5) Do they run, walk, jog, bike, or rollerblade on bike paths by the river, even in winter?
6) Do they use doggy daycares?
7) Do they love hockey?

If it's a 'yes' to any of these questions, then I think I may have seen a redneck!

Edit: This joke will tell you that I am not a redneck...

Go Git cha Momma

A redneck family from the hills was visiting the city and they were in a mall for the first time in their lives. The father and son were strolling around while the wife shopped. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.
The boy asked, "Paw, what's at?" The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, "Son, I dunno. I ain't never seen anything like that in my entire life, I ain't got no idea'r what it is."
While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small circular number above the walls light up sequentially. They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order. Then the walls opened up again and a gorgeous, voluptuous 24 year-old blonde woman stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son,

"Boy..................go git cha Momma........

....because I knew it was an elevator!! lol

Like the first answer, being called a Newfie is about equivalent to being called a Redneck / Hick. But I've been to Newfoundland and is it GORGEOUS and the people are wonderful.

Why do you ask? LOL looking to stay away from a particular area?

I'm not from the area of Ontario you are talking about (additional details) so I'm not positive about there but I have a couple of cousins that my other side of my family refer to as redneck wannabes. I'm fairly sure that, given the chance, they would move to the southern States. In fact, one of them went to school down there.

YES, absolutely. Outside of the biggest cities - Montreal, Quebec, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton - the people are all rednecks. Some of them you would think are American rednecks because they are exactly the same.

Most Canadian redneck anglo's don't realize they're rednecks. The love to pick on Americans and make themselves out to be superior to Americans and American rednecks, when in fact they're not only no better, but just as bad. In a way they're worse, because they live with an inferiority complex against Americans all their lives. It's sad, really. If you go to Canada they will talk your ear off about how stupid America is and how stupid Americans are, blah blah blah, and what hurts them is the fact that Americans know little to nothing about their nation. They try to say Americans are ignorant for knowing nothing about Canada, but that's their spin on it; deep down they know the truth, which is that even the most well-informed and educated Americans don't care enough to pay attention to Canada, as it has little to no bearing on our lives.

So yes, I'd say Canada has the same percentage of rednecks that the US has.

Newfie jokes are about as common as redneck jokes, but Newfies are great people!

Alberta is sort of like the Texas of Canada... they even have a huge annual stampede.

Newfoundlanders are much maligned, but are in fact among the friendliest people in Canada, and no less intelligent. I must've heard as many "Newfie jokes" as blonde jokes. Maybe it's the accent...

Alberta is full of them. Pick up trucks with rifle racks, must be the number one vehicle out there.

I believe every country has their own "rednecks." Ask a native of any country and they can tell you who they are.
