I believe it stems from the basic "bully" mentality, combined with the knowledge that Christianity teaches to "turn the other cheek". They know that Christians aren't going to call a jihad, or riot if there's an offensive cartoon, so people feel safe enough to ridicule.
Think of it, though...the world is so dang lucky that Christians ARE taught this...I fear that even the most devout Christians are starting to feel "up against the wall" with all the ridicule.
Thankfully, Buddhists are also a peace loving faith. In truth, so is Islam, but the extremists have taken over. Sad, sad, sad.
So bottom line: Christians turn the other cheek. It's what He taught us.

Not so -- I'll quite happily "diss" buddhism, islam, hinduism, paganism, wiccanism, christianity, shintoism, etc. etc.
All religions are creations of men's minds in reponse to both fear about the unknown and the desire by their organizers to control people's behavior. They are all intellectually untenable, make outrageous claims that can't be proven, rely on fanatical beliefs that have no basis in fact, and attempt (some more than others) to keep their followers ignorant, since too much knowledge leads to adherents learning the truth about their lies and magic and leaving the religion.
That christianity gets the most "dissing" here is simply because a) it's the most visible in the US and b) it has the most fanatical, ignorant supporters who make silly arguments here on Answers. But they're all equally ridiculous.

Yes that is so true. No one dares diss the muslims! I have never even heard of people hating on Islam. When people do start dissing muslims, I'll tell you.
All religions get ridculed, especially the big religions. Bhuddism is not as big as Islam and Cristianity.

Well, Christianity is also the biggest religion in the world, so there's one of your reasons. But plenty of people "diss" Islam (where have you been?) and no one "disses" Buddhism because the followers of that religion don't seem to find it necessary to convert people.

That made no sense whatsover. What are you trying to say? Your statement is completely false, thereby any evidence that you could draw from your conclusions would be would be illusionary. What slack? Are you trying to say that Christians get hatred that buddhists and islamics don't? Do you read the newspaper? Islam is the most hated religion in the world right now - where are you getting your information from?

Islam is never dissed? What kind of world have you been living in?
And Buddhism is actually a religion of peace and love, so dissing it is usually rare, except from fundies who are like, "Buddha is Satan!" and such.

If you make cartoons or mock Islam the media and leaders cringe
that someone would do such a thing to such a loving religion.
No one touches budda or some of the other religions.
Christianity (bashing and mocking are incourged by the media)
The government only remove Christian symbols from public.

But BoB, Church of the SubGenius, gives Slack. In fact the cry of the SubGenius is "Give me slack or kill me!" shows just how committed a SubGenius is to the cause.
Slack is what we lack.
Slack is the whack on the back of social conformity.
Slack is the wooden shoe dropped in the clack of the rack.

Hey I pick on Islam every once in a while too. I tend to go to Christians more often, only because I hear it from them more. But at least they aren't blowing themselves up to kill as many non-believers as possible so when I do go after it I am much harsher in what I say. I don't usually start it because I really don't care what fairy tales you want to buy into.
The Buddhists I never hear from in a way that bothers me at all, so why would I criticize?

Where have you been? Islam jokes are everywhere on Y! Answers. However, I must say that there are more Christian jokes.
Most possibly it's because Christian doesn't mind seeing themselves or their believes as a joke object. You see, a little Islam joke on the loose, then all middle east will get hairy, even more hairy than they already are.
