I suggest you call a beauty salon and explain the situation about your hair to them. Usually they will give you the proper instructions as to how to fix your hair. Try more than one so you can weigh out what you need to do. Also, the people at Sally's Beauty Supply are pretty knowledgeable about these things. Try paying them a visit and see what they reccommend. This would be the cheaper route in the long run.

Once you highlight/color your hair, it's damaged. As a serial highlighter myself, I recommend two things:
1. You can color over it with your natural color, but you will still need to maintain the color every 2 months since your old highlights will lighten up again. This will help camouflage your highlights until your hair grows out back to natural.
2. Change the placement of your highlights to under your crown so that the roots aren't obvious. This will save trips for touch-ups and money if you still like having highlighted hair.

I have used L'Oreal haircolor before and done it myself with good results. The problem is that when you color your hair that way the roots are more obvious than when it's been highlighted. If you do a good job of matching your natural color it shouldn't be too noticeable. If you don't want to color all of your hair, you really need to go to the salon. Or you could always just let it grow out naturally.

Id get a color at the store and match it to your natural color. , just put it on the highlighted part.
Im going thru the same thing, wanting to stop highlighting, and this is what Im gonna do.
Ive done it once before, didnt like how dark my hair really is, and went right back to highlights, but here I am again, wanting to stop.

I did the same thing 2 years ago.. I died my hair almost black because the blonde will come thorugh and lighten it. In about 2 weeks it was a really pretty brown. It then took me almost two years but i left it alone and now it is all my natural hair color!!

you could go to the salon and get your hair dyed to it's normal hue, or you could just let the highlights grow out.. if you are concerned about how you'll look, just go out to the store, get some at home coloring, and do your hair.. or just do your highlights.. if you're just doing your highlights, go a little darker than your hair color..

Yes, definately have your stylist color your hair to a shade most like your natural shade, I have done it many times before. One important thing is to have it colored with a semi-permanent solution, these usually make your hair feel softer after the treatment whereas the permanents tend to make your hair feel stightly damaged. The way my hair stylist describes this is the semi-permanent is like a glaze for your hair. Good luck, your hair will look soooooo healthy all one color again!!! =)

You would not need to "foil" your natural color back in. Just have it colored or do it yourself to your natural brown color. I use Feria Colors. They are rich and vibrant and make my hair feel great. $8-10.You will still see some blonde-brown strands. Eventually it will all be brown.

I just let my hair grow out naturally. I wore it up, which seemed to hide the break in the returning natural color. Just leave your hair alone, thats the best thing you can do for it.
