lets say a woman got raped and there were dna samples under her finger nails, do they just put the dna in some computer and the persons profile pops up??????????? is everyones dna registered like that?

DNA is entered into the CODIS system (Combined DNA Index System), but only certain people are in that system. Check the site below for more information.

Generally in a rape case, while DNA is run through CODIS just in case, usually it is used to be matched to a suspect that is indicated by other evidence, to confirm that person's guilt or innocence.

No not everyone is DNA registered. And most of the DNA banks that do exist cannot be used in criminal investigations.

What would happen is that the primary suspects would be asked to provide a DNA sample for comparison. If they refuse, the prosecutor could ask the court to order a sample taken. That sample would then be compared to the DNA evidence at the crime scene to determine if they match, the way that blood types and finger prints used to be matched decades ago.

The persons DNA was in the system because he was once incarsonated for some kind of crime.

I believe that some government employees and former sexual offenders' DNA are in the system.
