Reply to Warren H:
Sounds just like the giant invisible hamburger that I have psychic communication with and he tells me you are wrong and that the world will end in a big squirt of mayo sauce!...Perhaps we should teach all these theories but the day is only so long.

God is a myth, not a theory. Theory suggests that there's some evidence to support the claim. At best, god is a hypothesis, one which has never been allowed to even be tested.

Only if you can present some evidence of it that will pass muster in a peer reviewed scientific journal.

I have a theory there is a giant invisible hamburger in orbit around the earth. It is going to destroy the Earth by shooting pickles at all the churches in a few years. Should we teach that too??

Here is another one: http://www.venganza.org/ I think it has about the same evidence. Want that taught too???

Why do people say that god is real? Do you have a photograph, and signed letter, etc??? No, you read a book written thousands of years ago, were told stories by people who you put trust into...and now you are saying its all real, without hesitation. I could get a group of people, go around the world and talk of the great turnip and how it will come back to save us...in time, people would believe that too. If there is a God, great. But you have no ground to stand on if you say "I know". You really only "believe", there is a difference.

You are suggesting that they teach religion, even as a theory, in public schools. I'd have to disagree with that point on it. You can call it a theory all you like, but I still don't want that particular theory taught to my child. Sooner or later one is going to say "But this "theory" is actually the correct one."

I say keep all religion out of the schools unless it is part of a history class, such as pointing out how the different Christian denominations ruled over Europe, etc. Outside of that, it needs to be left out.

Your wording is off, 'the fact that God is a theory' would be more appropriate. As for teaching it in school, it already is in religious studies classes.

Yes it should be taught as a theory in schools, showing that it's a theroy just like evolution and the big bang. Then Kids could choose what they wanted to believe.

Yes: God should be taught as a theory. It should be up to parents to indoctrinate in a particular area of belief.

The Christian God is one of MANY mythologies. If that's going to be taught, it better be taught in a secularly structured World Religions course.

Absolutely, but under the fanatic neocon christian government regime we have working now, this doesn't seem to be the way the educational pendulum is swinging.
God bless public school, but I'll be damned if my kids ever go there!
