Ibuprofen followed by a dentist appointment. Ibuprofen will help with some of the swelling if any and last longer than tylenol. It is actually safe for you to take (4) 200mg ibuprofen vs. the normal dose of (2 )pills. This is the equivalent of a RX that a doc would write. Just make sure you eat when you take this. You can also buy a numbing gel at your local pharmacy for instant yet short acting relief (ambesol or ora gel). DON'T put off going to the dentist, you don't want to let a possible abcess go too long, this increases your risk of spreading infection throughout your body.

It all depends on what is causing the tooth ache. If the gum is red and swollen rinse with hydrogen peroxide (new bottle not some that has been sitting in the cabinet for 6 months). If it is an abcess, do not put any heat on it. That will only make the bacteria multiple and worsen the pain. If your filling or tooth is cracked and the nerve is exposed, you have to get help immediately. Until then, 600mg of motrin, ibuprofen, or Advil should do the trick.

Put an aspirin right on the tooth. Make a paste of baking soda and water and put it on the tooth. Take a gulp of whisky and keep it in your mouth on the side the tooth is on for as long as you can, or soak a cotton ball with it, and put the cotton ball on the tooth. Best to pick up ambusol from drug store - not expensive and it works.

It is for burns, cuts, abrasions & hygienic care of the mouth. I got this from a doctor when i was in a car accident on a Friday and no dentist was available till Monday. Now, i think you have to ask a pharmacist for it, good luck.

Try a warm tea bag to the affected area. It is very soothing. But I'd do the ibuprophen thing also.
