Some people are simply not reading your question properly, are they? You are not suggesting that incest is a part of your life, but simply asking why it seems apparent in the bible. Well, (l'm from the Uk. by the way), l don't think that the bible should be taken literally. l'm not suggesting that any of the stories are untrue in essence, but we have to remember that when they were first written down, and that may have been long after they had been handed down verbally from generation to generation, they were written in ancient hebrew, since then they have had to be translated into a form of modern day language, so certain things can be left out , mistranslated, added on etc. In those times, l don't suppose that the people then were aware of the whole world as we know it today, their world consisted as far as anyone they knew had travelled, so if there had been a terrible flood and one man (Noah) had seen fit to save himself and his family and 2 of whatever creatures that were native to his habitat, then this is feasible. lt just did'n't come through in the story that in other parts of the world, unbeknown to Noah, there were other people quite dry and probably oblivious of the flood. These are the people who continued the history of the human race, with or without Noah. Learn what you wish from the bible, but don't take it too precisely!

At the time of the flood, Noah's three sons were all married with their own families. At that time they would probably have had concubines as well, so the children would not all have been related. So you may have had Noah with his wife, three sons by different women who then married different women and had children by them. In the end the blood line wasn't too pure was it!
It has been suggested that the three sons - Shem, Ham and Japheth were of differing coloured skins as well, suggested as the basis for apartheid and many examples of racial discrimination.
Another theory is that the 'two of each kind' was just to hammer home the fact that two individuals of different genders were needed to procreate - so it wasn't just males or females that were taken on board.
I think that WWF and other animal charities have looked at how many breeding pairs are needed in order to maintain a vital population and it comes out at a few thousand. Perhaps there was more than one ark?!
A bigger issue following through this is how the whole human race started off from just Adam and Eve and their three sons isn't it?
What do you reckon.
Perhaps the best bet is to ask a rabbi as the degree of study into the Bible and the truths within the old testament are a key area of study.

Even a heretic sometimes speaks truth. It merely took one or 2 debatable pretend issues to exclude a writing from the Bible. some completely wonderful writings were excluded because they were written too late, in 150 instead of 89. some students say that there are authentic declaring of Jesus contained in the Gospel of Thomas; some are also contained in the canonical Gospels, yet some are not any further. The gnostic leanings of the writing were sufficient to exclude it. Christian scriptures amassed right into a e book changed into first proposed by a heretic, Marcion. the technique of defining orthodoxy and the canonization of the Bible were simultaneous and interdependent. there are a mode of present day inspirational writings, yet they are not Biblical. there are a mode of historic writings that rfile Christian ritual and beliefs, they are not Biblical, both. As all Christian truths no longer shelter completely contained in the Bible are supported by teachings of Jesus and the Apostles that are maintained and taught by the Church. No truth is lost by failing to canonize Enoch; a lot false impression is prevented besides. do not study it so actually; that, too, isn't Catholic.

That's one of those questions that make thinking people not believe in the bible. I was told, when I asked it in Sunday school years ago, that you could do that then-but not now- I guess since Jesus died for our sins. That rationale goes hand in hand. A great story teller explains everything so you don't come up with those kind of questions. My God would have written a more concise story.

Incest is okay when god tells you it's okay - along with murder, rapine, genocide, deception etc. Chock full of good old family values, is the bible! Where did Cain and Able get their wives? Lot screwed his daughters, and he was a righteous man!

There's better examples of incest in the Bible. You should read the Bible so you can rant with better examples.

I think the story of Noah's ark was just symbolic of something... an anology.
So that's the other answer. It never happened.

Noah's family mean: his daughters and sons (as I remember) - WITH THEIR SPOUSES. So - there were normal marriages. And they had children.
Sorry, but if the world of animals is the case, I would not talk about the SIN...

Quit trying to rationalize your behavior you simpleton, incest is NOT best and it is NOT a game the whole family can play and as for it being "family fun time" get your head out of the gutter already.

You don't read the bible, the priest/father tells you what's in there.
