I think they tend to make as many atheists and Pagans as they do Christians, put it that way.

For leaving no, for not joining, yes. The fundies are the ones who drive the genuinely interested and curious away. Telling people their whole culture and heritage are the work of the devil and that they and their families are going to burn in Hell is not much of a selling point. Sadly, those supposed "true" Christians we're always hearing about stand by and say nothing in protest while the fundies tell non-Christians everywhere that theirs is the universal viewpoint of Christianity. With no other viewpoint being expressed, that is what people of other faiths and cultures will believe, and that will form the basis of there actions towards the Christian faith. It is a principle in law that silence implies consent, and as one of the U.S. Founding Fathers, Thomas Paine if I'm not mistaken, wrote: "All that is necessary for the Triumph of Evil is this, that God Men do nothing."

Alas.
a) You ask an open-ended question which has no defnitive answer i.e. "main reason" - is unmeasurable.
b) Are they a reason - certainly. Both in reality and as an excuse.
c) In my experience as a pastor and church executive, the "main" reason would be more likely the secular nature of our age. Most drift away rather than are driven away.
It feels like you have been burned. I'm sorry.

Salam it really is extra ideal in case you do not talk about faith with him because he has a foul purpose to cut back your good faith about Islam and he tried to convey you into Christianity. it really is extra ideal in case you nevertheless study and comprehend the Qur'an and hadith intensive.Islam isn't for Arabs in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is for entire human beings at the same time as Christianity is for Jews only. He lied that he's common with Islam extra ideal than you.

If someone "leaves Christianity," then they were never truly a Christian. It's like the mustard seed parables. Where some grow, some never sprout, and some wither and die. The ones who "leave Christianity" would be those who withered and died. They sprouted but nothing came of it. That means that they were told about Jesus, got all excited for a short time, but did not stick with Him. They were never truly saved. There are many people who know who Jesus is, but do not accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
Besides, on Judgment Day, what excuse will they give to God for not accepting Jesus? "Well, God, it was those Fundamentalists. They turned me away from you."
Were the Fundamentalists the only source you had to learn about Jesus?
There are many ways to learn about Jesus. Any Church, pick one. The tv--put it on a Christian channel. The radio--choose to listen to Christian stations. And, let's not forget------The Holy Bible.
Now what excuse were you going to use for not accepting Jesus? Oh, yes, those Fundamentalists. Yes, I'm sure God has neeeeeeever heard that excuse before.
That's like telling an officer that you didn't know you were speeding (as if you are the very first person to ever use that excuse and it will save you from a ticket).
You can't get saved from hell by using a lame excuse; you can only get saved from hell by accepting Jesus.

I think ignorant Christians chase more people out of Christianity than fundamentalists. People handing out bad information as if they know it all when it's been 10 years since they picked up any kind of Christian literature.
Nuts if you ask me.

No, I left because I thought that it was absurd.
I find them the most annoying part of Christianity because they can't accept that there are people like me and they can't change that. But they are not a reason to change what you think.

Fundies are not a reason to denounce your faith but they are a very good reason to resort to going it on your own. Leave the radical stuff to them...I will stay in the shelter of my own home and read and pray by myself

I think they just lose their own faith in God as no one can really be the reason. It is up to the individual person to stay or leave.

That's a good part of the reason I left many years ago. Do they really expect to find converts by preaching hell's fire and damnation?
