Most cats I've known, caged or uncaged, have spent a great deal of time discussing religion. Some of them have even been "masters" to a degree that most of us humans cannot fathom. Cats see things (especially spirituality and time) in a radically different way than we do, so when they discuss religion (amongst themselves or with me), it's unlike any human discussions on the same topics. Basically their point always boils down to the fleeting, transient nature of the material world, and then they spend hours arguing with each other over various methods for transcending it. None of them have yet (to my knowledge) come up with a satisfactory answer that all can agree upon.

Perhaps kitten chow just doesn't fulfill the Jesus shaped hole in the furry little hearts. Therefore they turn to religion in hopes of being able to co-exist with God while in the cage so that they can feel like they are free. Think of them as the slaves of Egyptians. Someday a mighty cat who has been raised by the very people who opress the cat masses will do wonders in Gods name and say ,"Let my p****es go!"

I know you are being sarcastic, or tongue in cheek as some people would - but any prisoner (the guys and gals who really do live in cages) will tell you that going to Chapel and Bible Class is time out of their cell. It also enables them to mix with people who do not judge them, who in fact care about them and wish to rehabilitate them with man (and God). That is why people" in cages" need religion, (God and Jesus).
Christians, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, JWs, Pagans, Spiritualists and Humanists amongst others all take their version of religion or alternative to people in prison. Working with people in prison to improve their lives .
