What do you think of the name? Is it too used? Would it sound okay with a latino last name? I am considering this name.

The name is popular but with good reason--it's a beautiful name. I love the meaning--Gift from God--and I think it would sound just fine with a latino last name.

It is a bit "used", but hey, not as much as some are! I like it though, way better than I like the really over "used" names. You could always give him a more unique first name and give him Matthew as his middle name. That way if you decided that you really did like Matthew better, you can always change and call him by his middle name. A lot of people go by their middle names. Either way, you win! You still get "Matthew."

Matthew is a very nice name. I don't think that it is too used. And it will be great with any last name. It's the middle name that you have to worry about.

i like the name matthew a lot. i usually imagine a good looking guy when i hear the name matthew (coz all the matthew guys that i know are cute)....

i like it. check the top 100 baby names to see how used or underused the name is. some sites offer names of heritage, i.e. hispanic, italian, scandinavian, etc. and then pick the name you like anyway because you'll be using it the rest of his life. i included two different sites that i've used for my last two kids and this pregnancy. good luck

I think it is a beautiful name. You can always make it like Matthias or something but I like Matthew a lot...

My son is called Matthew, so yes I like it. I'm not sure what the latinised version is, but the bible could probably tell you.
