I think this short video explains it well:

You're going to get a lot of biased and incorrect answers. Many people confuse agnosticism with weak atheism and think that strong atheism is the only type of atheism.

Atheos means, literally, no god. Agnosis means no knowledge. This shows you that the two terms are mutually exclusive. One deals with knowledge, the other with belief. One can be an agnostic atheist meaning that they do not have enough knowledge to say with 100% certainty that no gods exist, but they don't believe that any gods exist. I happen to fall into this camp. I don't claim to be all knowing but given the evidence that i do have and continue to observe i accept that in reality no gods exist. One could also be an agnostic theist.
The colloquial usage of these terms (what you tend to see in here) is as such. Agnostic - not sure if god exists and doesn't commit to one stance or the other. Atheist - Does not believe that god is real.

An agnostic accepts the possibility of God but takes no action in active worship or states expressly that they do not know either way and rests at that declaration.
An Atheist denies the existence of God, in particular the Judo-Christian God and frequently are devotees of the practice of science, most find the lack of proof, fact or scientific basis in spirituality as substance for them to stand on amidst religious pressure. An increasing number of Atheists also believe that personal beleifs aside organised religion has become a harmful and dangerous force in the modern world and seek a dissolution of the sway religious leaders hold over populations. Terrorism the "good people doing bad deeds" mentality and intolerance to other's viewpoints often seem validations of the problem of organised religion to Atheists, and they beleive either a rise in Atheism or a reduction in the power of organised religion will solve these problems.

An agnostic {fr the Gr. A(not) + gnostic(knowing)} is someone who believes that the answer to whether or not God exists is unknowable. Atheists {fr. the Gr. A(not) + theist(believer in God)} come in two forms: a Weak Atheist does not himself believe in the existence of any Deity; A Strong Atheist actively believes that there is no Deity. Having Internet access why would you post such a question, why not just look the words up in one of the on-line dictionaries?

Atheists deny the existance of any gods or goddesses.
Agnosticism is the philosophical view that value certain claims as truth—particularly theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities—is unknown, inherently unknowable, or incoherent and thus irrelevant to life. Agnostics can be theists or atheists or unsure.

Agnostic merely ability lacking information (genuine global information) about *something*, although contained in the context of religion it frequently refers to gods. (Greek: gnosis = information). So "an agnostic" may seek for suggestion from from someone who has no information of any gods. it may truly seek for suggestion from from having the stance that express information isn't accessible, yet frequently it truly is taken as a given so refers to "everyday" information i.e. in holding with information. maximum those who're agnostic about gods are atheists, as lack of awareness frequently ability lack of perception for this reason. often times they specify that by "agnostic atheist" if the context warrants it. although, some human beings will be agnostic theists the position they reckon gods do exist, even although they don't have any information of any. they are agnostic too, yet no longer atheists. So agnosticism is a stance on information, even as atheism is a stance on perception.

An athiest has no belief whatsoever in God.
An agnostic (like me) accepts that they do not know whether God exists or not, and believes that humans will never have the capability to know. In other words, that if God does indeed exist then he is far too complex for us to ever have any hope of understanding.

An agnostic says "I don't know if there is a God, though many claim to know Him". An atheist makes the illogical statement, "I know there is no God because I have not personally experienced Him, in spite of the fact that many others claim to".
