We took a Norwegian Lines cruise out of Seattle in July a couple years ago. It was warm in Seattle and cool to just right in Alaska. the boat ride was fairly cool, but not uncomfortable. We were not able to sun bathe, but could look at the scenery with a jacket on. We had a cabin with a balcony which I would highly recommend since this trip is through some of the most scenic country anywhere. You will want to be able to get up at all hours and to check out the view.

We like NCL because of their freestyle dining concept. That separates them form other with first and second seating for dinner. Freestyle gives you more time to enjoy the trip.
