come on, of course it isn't healthy, when your body is not adequately nourished it thinks you are starving because of famine, so it saves the most energy loaded substance in your body which is FAT, a 500 calorie a day diet will make your body eat all of it's own muscle and just leave the fat until all the muscle is gone.

I think you already know the answer to this question but I will say no anyway. There is nothing healthy about that at all. Your body needs a certain amount of calories and nurtrients just to function. If you cut down to that little calories you are going to be starving your body, your brain, and depleting your organs of vital nutrients. You will have no energy, you won't be able to concentrate, you will be irritable, and if it went on long enough you might even die. Also other processes, like having your period etc. will be thrown out of whack and your body may not even have the energy to do that.
The other thing that will result from this is you will mess up your metabolism, which controls the rate at which your body is able to process the food you are putting in your body. Starving yourself will cause your metabolism to slow down and it will want to hang on to every calorie you put in it. You may lose weight but as soon as you start eating normally again you body will no longer process at the same speed it once did and the weight you lost and then some will come back.
Please do not follow that suggestion. If you eat regularly and healthy choices - and yes exercise is important for everyone not just as a weight loss tool- you will lose weight a healthy way. Depending on your age and size you would probably need at least 1500-2000 calories a day.

You will lose some (not a lot actually) fast because your body will be using your fat as a source of energy, and stretching out those 500 calories to last the day (metabolism slows down)
If you don't eat more you end up weak, malnourished and can end up dying. Especially of heart attacks because your heart as a muscle will eventually start being worn along with the rest of the muscles in your body, and you can get ubalanced electrolytes.
When you start eating again, your body is used to only 500 calories a day and so any more than that will be converted straight to fat. Your body is basically used to using your stored fat to get energy. So it will make more for you to use in future,
You will gain incredible weight, fast. Probably more than you started out with. Until your body understands it's no longer in danger of starving to death and your metabolism gets faster again.
The key to weightloss is getting your metabolism up, drinking water, doing exercise, having muscles and eating more often (not more food, but eating smaller meals, more often) do that.
The reason you get those thin people who get away with eating loads is because they naturally have a high metabolism, OR burn off what they eat through their daily activities and any exercising they do.

That's not healthy at all. You need calories to run your body. You'll be "tired" and "out of it". Just watch what you eat and eat in moderation. Exercise will help a lot. I was able to lose 9 pounds in one week by watching what and how much I ate and doing things I liked. Dancing is a great exercise. Put on your music and dance that extra stuff away. It works.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

no, that's not healthy, your body needs fuel and if you cut down that low it can cannibalize itself.. the only healthy way to lose weight is to eat a balanced diet and exercise, not to drop your calories to super low levels.. go to mypyramid.gov and you can type in your specifics for a healthy calorie count. after that find a work out plan that's good for you and stick with it.

Your body is going to think it is starving (which it is) and at that point it will start burning calories at a lower rate than ever...better idea:
eat very little sugar - baked goods, bread, potatoes, pasta, rice...etc..only eat starches that have alot of fiber - whole grain bread...eat lots of veggies...don't drink fruit juices - loaded with sugar...if you exercise even more weight will come off...
