I hear a lot of people say if illegal immigrants want a better place to live then they should make their country, Mexico , a better place and fix the problems there instead of coming here. My question is why didn't the pilgrims do that instead of coming here.

The Pilgrims (aka Puritans or Separatists) were being forced to worship under "The Church of England" and were either fined or jailed if they did not attend the services. They decided that they could not change the church from within to rid it of Catholic teachings (which was their goal) they separated from the Church (hence the name Separatists).
So, since Virginia had been formed as a colony, they decided to get a charter to a new colony and practice their religion there. They got the charter and the person who wrote the charter forgot to include the fact that they had to worship The Church of England, so they headed out and started the Massachusetts Bay Colony which would later be simply called Massachusetts as we know it today.
Upon arrival they set up their churches and towns, except they didn't have the separation of church and state. Infact, the 2 were purposely interlinked. The head of the colonial Puritan church also ran the government and preceded over the courts and was the judge in the big trials such as the trials of Anne Hutchinson and Roger Williams.
Speaking of those 2 names, people here in the MBC were forced to worship Puritan views. Anyone who disagreed with them would be subject to expulsion from the colony and set into the uncharted territory of what is now the New England area.
The same thing applies to Mexico, except in a different way. The workers are all rather inexperienced but hard working, such as road construction people or construction workers.
Since there is the dense population of them in Mexico competition for the jobs there is high and only the most skilled get to work, the rest are/remain unemployed.
So they come here to work since there is an almost endless need for such jobs as our population is about to hit 300,000,000 from the effects of many things. Our economy is better, our country pays better, and we give them more health care and things like it, so they naturally decide to come over here since it's not easy to start a country all over again let alone a Church like the Pilgrims way back when.

Their religion was considered heresy by the church of England and they would have been imprisoned or put to death if they had been found out. So, most moved to the netherlands to prepare for their trip.
Only half of the 102 original pilgrims (and crew) survived the first year.
About 10 years after their trip, the church of England changed to puritainism, and had they waited, they never would have needed to go.
The Pilgrims were hardly proponents of religious freedom, and when a non Puritain sect moved in nearby a few years later they went to war with them. No- they were quite the right wing militant bunch. Miles Standish was a brutal, tough and brilliant military commander.

Not all the people on the ship were fleeing a bad life ,some were ,but some were looking for fortune and adventure.England was bad for some people but it was not corrupt.There is a huge difference in the time frame and so it cant be honestly compared and any thinking person would see that.England was a monarchy and its difficult to fight the king or queen at least in those days.
You are trying to compare legal people to illegals and you cant do that in any logical way .nice try tho

After being kicked out of England they lost the chance to continue to try.
Also the Indian tribes and nations had no laws regarding the immigration onto the North American continent.
Nice try, but they did it the legal way. Get it through your thick skull.

The pilgrams were also looking for religious freeedom.They went across the ocean to start a new country.These illegal are coming to the United States and refusing to adapt to our ways.
Do we really want a group of people in our country who are so stupid that they can't take a hint that we don't want them here?

If you're unwilling or unable to take up arms and whip an oppressive regime, then you'd better leave. Mexico is an entirely different situation. It just hasn't developed enough industry so that its people can live well.

It was a lot different back then. You didn't have a choice in who you are like today.... a long boat ride sounded better than a be-heading or burned at the stake.
