I've had cats when I was younger and it was a normal relationship. The cat I have now is overly clingey. Sense Im unemployed we spend alot of time together. And I mean clingey. I can't go to the bathroom without her in the room or she goes nuts crying outside. Sense the apartments only 850 SQ Ft... she follows my every move.

I realize it's normal but I think shes too attached. She constantly jumps up on my lap wherever I am and I mean it's too much and she doesn't get the point. So I bought her some new toys and stuff but... she still... its just really annoying.

My bf won't let her lay on him at night. So now she lays on me... I wont let her but she does whatever she can to get on me. She will go through the covers where my feet are, crawl up my body and then repeat once I move her.

If I put her out of the room she meows and plays with the door... once I even had to leave the room and fall asleep w/her on the couch...

WHAT DO I DO SHES DRIVING ME NUTS???

It sounds like your cat is sensing your stress you have and is trying to comfort you. When things happen in my life that stress me even though on the outside I don't look it my cat demands on all my attention to help keep me calm. Try doing some meditation and let her sit in your lap while doing it this will help both of you. Medication won't especially if she didn't pester you like this before you were laid off of work.

I would say you have a very attached cat and there are some thing that you can try the first is you can place her in a crate at night . the second is you can put her in a roon locked uo over night. The last thing is take her to the vet and explain to him or her the situation and he can prescribr a sedative that you can give her so that you can get a break. If all that does not work all you can do is break up with her she will be adopted very quickly because that is what most people want in a cat. I recently lost our cat she was old and died very peacefully I would love to get another if all fails here is my email address

Okay, this is cute, but I also realize how it might be driving you crazy. I first want to say that I agree with Zebra, there is a medication like Valium, called Clamicalm (check spelling) that is given for anti-anxiety for pets. The medication ran me about $60.00 for a 30day bottle. It's get costly, and according to my vet, this had to be taken the life of my pet.

I had a similar situation with my canine as he displayed the "snuggle" factor with fierce relentlessness. While it's cute, it can also be annoying. It seems your furry friend is suffering from separation anxiety, although check with your vet. Remember, pets can associate us as their own family. I can't speak for cats, but dogs run in packs, so many times they place hierarchy with members of the family and react accordingly, like wanting to go where you go, sleep where you sleep, etc.

Another option is to get another playmate for your cat. Toys may not be stimulating enough for your animal. Remember animals are domestic now, but at one time they were wild, and had the world as their stimulation.

I eventually dropped the meds for my pets anxiety, because it effected him so differently, he'd sleep all day, lack of energy, and it was so pricey. He also grew out of this clingy phase.

Hope this has been somewhat helpful, and I wish you well.

I have a cat that is the same way, though I don't think to the extent that yours is. However, I have two cat and I think that helps. It sounds like your cat has something like separation anxiety. If possible try getting another cat. If that isn't a possiblity maybe a small fish tank or fish bowl would help. My cats love to watch our fish swim and it gives me a little time to myself.

She might be lonely, ever thought about another cat? Or letting her go outside ever onece in a while? I know it's hard living in an apartment, but even supervised outings might sway her attention away from you. i have one that can get that way, but he has learned to share the attention with my other cat. It might take a while, but that might be the solution

Step away from the cat! Get the heck outta the apartment - shop, workout, find a job, get a hobby. The cat can't cling to you if you're not there.

She adores you! Maybe it would help if she had another cat around to lay with. That solved the problem I was having with my cat.

I think your cat is lonely. Get her a friend and she'll start bonding with the other cat and start leaving you alone more. Right now she is bonded to you!!

what about another cat to keep her company? just beware her getting jelous! however i believe that after the initial tentions they would tolerate each other and be better in the long run. do you allow her outside? that may help her too.

Talk to your vet. I think there's a prescription for a valuum-like medication you can safely give your cat that will calm her. Hope that helps.
