lol. My mom and dad back home ask the same question of their mini pin, who was given to them after being taken from an abusive situation. As well, m&d have never bothered training dogs; they just sort of expect them to just "get it." As far as being clumsy - look at the thing. I don't know how they stand anyway. :-) So get a book or two on training at the library, be patient and give it the old college try, and see what happens. And give it lots of affection and support. Maybe it is stupid, but first it needs a chance to learn. Good luck! (to both of you!)

Min pins are really smart and bratty. I assume ur minpin is a puppy? If so, he should out grow his clumsy stage. It's just they're new to surroundings and their coordination isn't up to par as a pup. Mine was clumsy as a pup now trots around like a show horse. He is very clean, sensitive, demanding and sooo smart. He actually has us trained quite well.

I have one too and he does fall alot but that doesn't mean he's stupid it means he's clumsy and mine is too. I worked with him and trained him so now he is a very well mannered little dog.
Work with him for 10 minutes a day make training fun. He will get smarter. Looks for books online there are books made just for training Min Pins. They need lots of exercise and toys. Have fun they are a very entertaining and active breed.

Have you had your dog examined by a vet? Puppies are often clumsey and exciteable.....
You should watch the "Dog Whisperer" on T.V. he will tell you that he usually has to train the people....and that dogs with behaviour problems can be retrained but it is usually from so called training from humans.
How much do you love your dog if you call him stupid?
Did you buy your dog from a reputable breeder. If so I'm sure they could tell you about the behaviour of mini pins.
Good Luck with your puppy....he's gonna need it.!

Puppies will stumble around alot.
I have 2-min-pins
1 weighs 15 lbs-9 yrs old.....best snake dog I ever seen.
She has stopped me 1 time from grabbing in flower bed a rattle snake, & twice from stepping on one. She'll grab center of the snake & shake from side to side w/great force until they are dead. She want let them get into a curled up possition...pulling them by the tail. If can't curl can't strike
. She has killed 1 cotton mouth & rattler this year as long as my arm.
1-weighs-5lbs-6 yrs old, she is very loving & playful w/my 2 yr old grandson. She makes every step he does.
The breed is not stupid.....A good dog is trained by a good owner.

at first, in case you extremely have confidence your dogs is stupid, then i'm fairly particular you have given it that vibe on your training concepts. canines at the instant are not stupid or dumb and can sense the form you sense with the help of the form you act in direction of them. in case you challenge frustration, or develop your voice or perhaps lack impatience, the dogs will sense that. you may get down on the floor and function a stable play consultation and get to be attentive to your dogs in a greater advantageous lite. She would not sense close adequate to you or have confidence you. Get to be attentive to her lower back as she gets to be attentive to you lower back and function some relaxing. then you extremely will start to work out how smart she extremely is whilst it extremely is time so which you would be able to coach her. don't be in a hurry notwithstanding to get her into that training mode.wait and notice and function some relaxing too, she'll respond lots greater advantageous to you.

a dog can only be as smart as his owner
my minpin is one of the most intelligent dogs I've ever owned and we've had dozens of dogs (& breeds) she recognizes half of the things we say - some words we have to spell
we have a stray minpin that showed up a week ago and he is very smart also
I don't understand your dog being clumsy, better get it checked out by the vet

My toy min pin is my baby....I would never call my baby stupid. I love mine more then anything. I can't imagine thinking your pet is stupid. Mine is stubborn...I think to smart for his own good. WHen he seems clumsy...is he just playing like all puppies do.?
Have you taken yours to the vet? He could have an ear infection which would affect his balance.

Some dogs just are not too bright. Many times they grow out of it. However if he is so clumsey, you might want to have to vet take a look and make sure its not a neurological disorder.....

My Border Collie did this as well. Turns out she has epilepsy... who would have thought?!?
You may want to consult your vet and make sure he's ok.
Rule of thumb, "If it seems odd, it probably is!"
