While I agree with all said about the "mini" St. Bernard, those who responded so vehemently against all "mini" dogs need to be careful. There are some miniature versions of dogs accepted by the AKC that actually live longer, healthier lives than their standard counterparts. Take, for example, Dachshunds, Poodles, Bull Terriers....etc.

There is NO such thing as a miniature St. Bernard. Those that claim it are only irresponsible breeders out to make a quick $$$ by scamming peopel into believing something that really isn't true. It is just irresponsible breeders making up another "designer" breed when all they are raelly doing is creating some serious health issues by breeding an already established breed bigger or smaller then the standard calls for.
There are indeed mini versions of some breeds..these are legit, have been carefully bred and are meant to be of the size they are. They have an actual breed standard.
Giant breeds such as Saints bred to "Mini" suffer structural as well as other issues same as the "teacup" sized. These are even worse then taking giant to smaller. Making an already small breed to an even smaller level causes deformities of kidneys, liver, heart defects, structural deformities, skull/brain problems etc. People need to get the size in proportion to the breed and breed standard not fall for the "sales propoganda set up by irresponsible breeders who have no regard for the breed they are breeding.

No. The teach changed into misinformed. If absolutely everyone advertises such, that ought to intend they took 2 small, sickly, risky canines and bred them contained in the hopes of manufacturing small, sickly pups that they can make a fortune with, inspite of a existence of misery for the canines and vast emotional and fiscal toll on the shoppers. because the father and mom are merely risky canines, there is not any assure by any ability that their pups will be small. I talked about a "miniature aussie" at a canines park that changed into 5 months previous and already virtually the size of a healthful finished-grown male aussie that changed into also there. The "miniature" canines changed into going to be a lot larger than lots of the fellow aussies available!

This is NOT a new breed.... generations of careful breeding goes into a new breed.... these morons are creating these dogs, and even they cannot GUARANTEE their size. Genetics is funny that way, you may pay all this money for a 'miniature' and it may not stay small. These "smaller" versions of breeds aoften have severe health issues as well.
(Do a simple yahoo search, there is little to no info because they are not a breed.)
I wish people would quit encouraging this idiots who are breeding these dogs, true breeders and lovers of the breed look down on these practices.

Thats weird, a mini St. Bernard!! The whole idea of the breed is for its size!! What idiots. I wouldnt waste my money on such a mutation of good genetics...i would just opt for a collie or something smaller.

This is not a responsible breed of dog. This is a designer breed bred by disreputable breeders and CERTAINLY isn't recognized by the AKC. Bad, Bad, Bad idea. Rescue a small dog from your local shelter instead of support an industry like this.

Kind of a contridiction of terms if you ask me,,,, but no doubt someone will try.
A Saint is a "Giant" breed, leave it be. If you want a miniture breed, I'm quite sure some can fix you right up,,,, without distroying a well established breed that has existed for over 100 years.
