A brown bag session is an informal lunch meeting. The idea is that instead of having lunch CATERED, as in a formal meeting, people
eat a simple lunch, called a 'brown bag' lunch because traditionally.
people would carry their own lunch (to school, work) in a brown bag.

For a brown bag session, people may be invited to bring their own lunch, or a simple ('brown bag') lunch may be provided inexpensively or for free.

Hey Corix

Has to do with the old-fashioned brown paper bag for lunch. Those brown paper bag are still very popular in places like bakeries, though.

An informal lunch meeting, that's what it is.

You bring your own lunch (perhaps in a brown bag). School kids used to bring their lunch to school in brown bags.
