Can you be a Christian, beleive in God and his Son Jesus Christ without ascribing or adhering to a "religious" belief system?

Wow.... great responses...

By the way, you can look at my answers to see what I'm like, but I am a Biblical literalist. I believe in God, His Son and His Grace and Mercy. I believe the Bible to be 100% the inerrant Word of God. I believe the only way to God is through belief in His son Jesus.

But I've never considered myself "religious" I go to a non denominational church. I don't remember anywhere in the Bible, God or Jesus admonishing us to follow a particular "religion".

yes, there weren't any deviations of Christianity in Christs time. but we are supposed to fellowship with one another. find a good church that teaches only sound biblical doctrine, instead of the ones that take one scripture out of context and make a doctrine out of it. compare scripture with scripture

If you believe in God and his Son then you cannot be a christian
their is no evidence of Christianity in the bible. The word Christian was a slang word used by the Romans..Hey there is a christian over there! The white Romans did know the black Jesus from anybody. they had to pay one of the Israelites to kiss Jesus on the cheek to point him out. That is where the mafia boys call the kiss of death came from. Remember white people saying they all look alike? the Israelites are Black, the Romans are white. You cannot believe in the word of God and be a Christian.

There is a problem concerning the definition of "religion"... If you are refering to the doctrins of the various "denominations" calling themselves Christians...Then the answer is yes...Then... you have to know what it is you mean by "beleiveing In"

Only those who come to God in The Way He proscribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and will enter Heaven.

No man, priest, pastor, or pope can decree you to be a Christian. NO act, rite or ritual can make you a Christian. YOu can not just decide you are going to be a Christian... Only God can decree you to be of The Church of Which Jesus The Christ is The Head... Those who come to God in The Way are of The Body of The Church... and those are The True Christian.

I accept email questions concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith. Or, you may check out my pov and read some about The Faith at:

Only if you can explain how you are going to adhere to these verses.

John 13:35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.”

1 Cor 1:10 Now I exhort YOU, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that YOU should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among YOU, but that YOU may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.

Heb 10: 24 And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, 25 not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as YOU behold the day drawing near.

Keep searching, you can find the true congregation.

Remember Love is the identifying mark of true Christianity.

Which organization is known around the world for brotherly love?

Which organization is known for doing the public ministry?

Which organization is known for preferring to die than break God's laws?

Yes, you would surprised by the majority of people who don't adhere to ascribe to a religious belief system in this world and they have honorable lives with no pressure of a organized religion filled with preachers and nosy church members.

You can be non-denominational and still be saved; however, God calls us to congregate with other Christians. We usually do that by going to Church, but there are other ways to do so, I'm sure. He also commands us to read and study His Word. Although we don't have to go to Church to do this, it is good to have others to hold you accountable for doing so. It's also nice to have the comfort and helping hands of belonging to a Church. There are many benefits, but it is not necessary for one's Salvation. Usually if one is saved, they will want to go to Church. Otherwise, it's likely that you will remain a baby Christian for the rest of your life, and on Judgment Day, you will have to explain to God why you did not congregate with other Christians and why you did not study His Word.

There are also non-denominational churches, such as an Assembly of God. They are just Christians congregating and learning together.

Of course. That is the most admirable way to handle your religious beliefs. Belief in a deity is a good thing... religion corrupts.

Some religious groups will say that you must go to church so you can maintain a relationship with god. What they're really saying is that you must go to church so you can give money to them and in return, they'll make sure you believe what they WANT you to believe.

Just have faith and you'll be fine.

If you mean a specific denomination or sect, of course you can. You can worship alone or with a few others, use the Bible as your source of reference and be a very good Christian.

Absolutely, in early Christianity, there were no churches, the believers met in each others houses (the book of Acts)
