I have dial up access that is way slow. First thing with Norton was a 9 hour download even though i just bought the disk. Thought when I bought the disk I got what i needed and wouldn't need an immediate massive download. It also immediately slowed my computer down. Can you reccomend something better. I need one the that I can purchase for 2 computers-offline buy the disk and will not start out with immediate down loads and get all the protection I need. Any suggestions? Preferably something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg too.

YES ! There are many freeware programs that are better than the paid versions . Avast ,is one of the best ( probably the best) it has real-time protection for everything , email etc and it catches stuff Norton and McAfee routinely miss . I've been running it for 6 months now and I love it .. It's picked up more email virus than you can believe .You do need to register it every 14 months .no biggie and you get it for as many machines as you like... FREE ... try it you'll like it . Also, PLEASE ,make Firefox your default browser, if you haven't already .. read up on it and you' see why it's moving up on IE every month.. it's freakin' great !

I know people really don't like software from Microsoft, but try Windows Live OneCare. Covers 3 computers for $60 bucks but I thought it was worth it. Awesome job. Try it for free at windowsonecare.com
