The living cultures in yogurt are what are good for you and you can get that in a pro-biotic supplement. Just like granola..it is advertising tactics and purchased shelf space. The yogurt you looked at is junk food. Congratulations on becoming a label reader it will change your life (there are bugs and blood and everything disguised as (natural flavor). Knowledge is power.

There are several benefits to eating yogurt but depending on the kind you buy the bad stuff might outweight the good stuff. The pro-biotics etc. are very helpful in keeping your good bacteria levels balanced in your body- but the bad side is the sugar in yogurt can counteract this benefit. Yogurt also provides a low fat source of calcium (but calcium can be gotten in other forms). It is a convenient snack but you really have to be careful- and as the person said before be a label reader. If sugar is the first second, or third ingredient you might want to keep shopping. Also, I find many yogurts are artificially flavored- which I am completely against and feel causes a whole new set of problems. You can buy unsweetened yogurt and flavor it yourself with fruit and small amounts of honey or maple syrup.

Yogurt is a dairy product, so it contains a lot of calcium, which is especially good for women. It also contains enzymes that aid in digestion, as well as active cultures that help prevent infections (especially yeast infections).

Well, there are enzymes in most yogurts that help your digestion. But yes, there's a lot of sugar in yogurt.

Plain yogurt is what's good 4 you. Good brands have active bacterial cultures in them, but you have to check the label for this. All brands will say they have bacterial culture (that is how the stuff is made) but good brands have LIVE cultures, which then set up shop in your intestines and help keep down the bad bacteria that also lives inside of us!
