Its how I met my wife. I am a very shy guy in person so I felt more comfortable letting loose online and din't have the fears as I do in person. When we met, she knew I was shy because I told her numerous times so she understood why I was so quiet. After the date, I told her how much of a good time I had and we decided to go out again. I had more confidence then and wasn't as shy and as time went along, I opened up more and more in person and thus, we wound up realizing we were a good match and got married. Just be careful and really get to know the person online before meeting. Ask some of the same questions twice over a period of time and see if the answer is the same. If it isn't, the person may have been lying all along.

i think many look at people online as not real people but I am real as you are real and we are no different then any body else. the internet allows us to meet people and visit places we will never get to do in person and although there is a bad light on those you find on the internet there are also good and you know this is true in life. botton line is we are all real some good and some bad but we are real rather you find someone online or off. so I say enjoy those you find online as much as those off line and keep building bridges instead of walls. after all you just met me and without yanswers you would have never heard my great advice now would you?

I met a good friend that i have now been knowing/communicating with for almost eight years now. We were even thinking marriage at one time because we had become romantically involved....but i put it back to the 'friend' category. We still share the kind of freedom to communicate anything and everything to each other that we once shared when we had just met online. We emailed for months before phone conversation. Then we sent pictures. Then we met. We have been ridiculously close ever since. Online isn't always bad. Just have to be really careful.

I hear alot about "Oh... watch out.. there are physco's online..blah blah", but actually, my next door neighbor is probably insane, too... Meeting someone in the grocery store or online... I don't see the difference, anymore. Everyone is a stranger, once. I met someone online myself and I've never cared so much about anyone else, before.

its good if you meet them soon in person after the initial contact
on the web....otherwise you build up expectations and fantasies about the people that get inflated when you meet them....it a very good way to make first contact, but a really bad way to TRY to get to know someone deep on here. And, god forbid you try to fall
in love on here before meeting someone...thats the worst of all, ann I say that cause it happened to me.....just use it to contact people........

I guess it just depends on the person in particular. I met my husband in a chat room on AOL. I have met several people that I consider good friends online.

So, it's up to you, where you meet them, etc.
