i am interested in buying A DVD player. I want to know which is better Sony, Samsung or phillps. I want a dvd player with provison of adding 5.1 speakers.

Sony is excellent and cheaper than other companies.

Everyone has different opinions, which is why there are many brands. Personally, I think Sony is genreally an excellent product, although often over-priced for that very reason. LG and Samsung are essentially the same company with LG being more the trendy version. Phillips has always seemed to be mediocre, neither especially great nor all that bad. But Phillips is also Magnavox and, for DVD players, Magnavox seems to have incredible problems in the area. Basically, you're faced with a toss-up between features and pricing of units.

I am using sony but prefer Phillps,
No touch with Samsung or Onida.
Local Brands Option 50/50

Sony and Phillips together invented the CD player, so i think they are equally as good, also i own a Phillips DVD player , and a Panasonic, the Phillips is very user friendly

I prefer Sony, but that is my personal choice. Samsung and Phillips are also good reliable brands as well...
They are all the basic type of devises(DVD Players), so it will depend on your preference-name brand that you trust!
