I guess some people that think a dog show is mean has never been to one. I have been showing dogs for a long time and let me assure you that the dogs LOVE IT!!! Any dog that I have had that does not like to show, would not be in the ring....it is not going to have a great outcome if the dog does not like to show. They need to be showy and moving around a ring and looking great is in no way mean. Benched shows may be another story, but your run of the mill show is a quick and fun thing. It is not like dogs spend the day being tortured or something. These dogs were bred for this. Knowing how to act around other dogs,letting other people put their hands on them,letting strangers look in their mouths,letting someone get right in their face.....many non-show dogs do not have manners that good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The commissioner helps to over see the show and makes sure things are running right, and well.
