Which states? I have a CCW permit and I can carry or travel with loaded weapon in my car in 29 different states. Some states do a have a reciprocating agreement with others, check with your state authorities.

To have a hand gun in car legal, loaded hand gun not good, Ammo must be in trunk or area not accessible from cab of car. (So what good is an empty hand gun?)
But there are permits to carry an hand gun or concealed weapon, but seance your asking I'm guessing you don't have one.
Except for NY city wear poison is illegal
Then to make it more complicated it changes from state to state, and some city's to.
And some years ago the patriot act went into place making it very hard to get hand gun permits, and harder to get rifles and shotguns.
I'd call your local state troopers and ask.

It all depends on the state. In South Carolina, you can pretty much always have an unloaded gun that is not in plain sight or the reach of the driver. In massachusetts, you need to have a license to carry, and even then it has to be in the trunk inside a secure container and with a gun lock, too. In CA, you'll get arested for even thinking of a gun when you're driving, pretty much. It all depends on the state.

In some states, you HAVE TO carry concealed, but with a permit.
In Arizona and New Mexico, a handgun on the dashboard is a legal and effective way to deter road rage.
Concealed carrying without a permit is a misdemeanor in New Mexico but a felony in Arizona.
I do not know about interstate carrying. I can't help but wonder if there are special provisions for cross-country truckers.

Depends upon the state. In California, you must carry the gun separate from the ammo, such as ammo in the glove box and gun in the trunck. You can never carry a loaded weapon in California in the vehicle. In Arizona and Texas, you can carry it in the car with you, loaded, and ready to go. I am a Californian. I wish our law was as smart as Arizona's and Texas. What's the point of having a gun for personal protection if you have to go through a whole getting-it-out-and-loading-it procedure before you can use it?

My doctor told me that it is safe to travel (by car, no more than 4 hours away...my mom lives 4 hours away) until the 36th week. I just moved to Germany from the US and I took a total of 10 hours in flight at 28 weeks. My doctor told me it was safe and me and baby did just fine. I would say it is OK but if you are worried, call and ask your doc. If you do go, plan for extra potty breaks, dress comfortably, and pack snacks and water for yourself. It is said that the second trimester is the most comfortable time to travel during pregnancy. Relax and have fun!

most states its legal if its in plain sight and not loaded.Unless you have a c.c.w. permit. You cant put it in the glove box or under the seat. It needs to be in a case , clip out and not loaded in the trunk of the car. out of reach. You can leave it on the dash with everything else in the trunk but these days thats not a wise choice. It of course depends where you are Like not in Chicago. If you get stopped these days and have it on the dash and you tell them you have one there , they sure will pull thier guns out on you til they see what your up too.So keep it in the trunk, with the clip out and empty in a case like your supose too. Dont take it to cananda or tey to cross us borders with it. And you better check the states your going to craoss. because crossing states lines is federal. However most states have the same laws. as to how to transport guns with you.

The laws on handguns differ from state to state. I know that if you have a gun in your car it had better be unloaded and in your trunk.
Check with the highway patrol of each state you are going to be traveling through and ask them.
