No. Anoint yourself once a day, and when you are going about your business, remember to keep your mind on the things of God. Try not to joke around that day or speak idle words. Concecrate your mind. A spiritual fast is more than just going without food and water. God looks at the QUALITY not the QUANTITY of a fast. If you mess up at anytime or feel you have slipped in an area, pray for God's forgiveness right away and keep on going. Don't let anything stop you from finishing your fast. What you do in private for God, (fasting and praying) he will reward you openly! ....God Bless!

I'm sure there is nothing wrong with anointing yourself, but I have been fasting for over 15 years and have never anointed myself while fasting. I'm not sure where you are getting that Idea. But basically fasting is just to weaken the flesh man so the spirit man will be stronger, so that we are more able to hear from God. More sensitive to the Spirit. It is a way of humbling yourself before God.

As for the 1st area of your very long question or assertion Why are not church homes coaching how important fasting and praying is? i won't answer that. there are distinctive issues that the church won't instruct and fasting seems to be one in each of them. Fasting does have many wellbeing and non secular reward, and Christians would desire to attempt it. don't be to worried approximately what the church isn't coaching via fact maximum church homes fail to suited instruct the be attentive to God, as long as you follow the be attentive to God and stick to Jesus that's what counts. So in case you pick directly to speedy, decide for it. Your faith is between you and Jesus.

You must ask the LORD'S permission, blessing and protection to fast. Fasting without prayer is starvation: you must pray. In the morning of each day of your fast, ask the LORD to sustain you and be your strength.
As for the midnight thing, that is up to you. You don't "have" to do that, but it sounds like a blessing to me. Be sure to drink lots of water and expect great things! For me, I found it helpful to do a total fast, a 24 hour fast because I would look forward to eating too much and I felt that distracted me.

There is no real way to fast, you annoit your head with oil as the Bible says to, I believe it's in Matthew, and go on about your day do what you normally do everyday. Don't let people tell you how to fast do it the way God wants you to. The idea of fasting is to get closer to God and to have control over your flesh, I know it sounds weird but it's true my preacher preaches about it. And food isn't the only thing you can fast, you can fast things that are hindering you from getting closer to God, like t.v., if you watch more t.v. than with time with God than you need to fast it and get rid of it. I hope this helps you email me and let me know, just add @yahoo.com from my screen name.

If you are fasting you should do it from 4 am to 4 pm.
You annoint yourself every morning.
Be reverent every hour on the hour if you cannot say a small pray.
I hope that you are able to achieve what you are setting out too.
By the way, i am not a christian. Don't even know what one is.
