Eat at least 3 meals a day -especially starting with a good breakfast. Eat foods that are a lower GI Index (meaning your body will process them slower so you blood sugar remains constant). Eat healthy snacks in between meals and don't eat any processed foods. Above all drink lots and lots of water (@2-3 litres). Water helps your organs like your liver metabolize things faster and more efficiently. Most of us walk around chronically dehydrated and as a result may feel tired or sluggish (or have headaches or irritability). So if you feel sluggish like that your metabolism is probably feeling pretty sluggish too.

Most people eat too little when trying to lose weight and this messes up your metabolism. You can basically eat enough to be satisfied by eating good quality, non-processed foods - including lots and lots and lots of veggies (be careful how you prepare them and what you put on them though).

I messed up my metabolism by not eating because of stress and now I am on a program that focuses on how to eat healthy and what things to eat at what times that will increase your metabolism. I didn't have a whole lot to lose but I have lost 10lbs already and hope to get another 5 off soon. Good luck.

You eat several, say six, small meals a day, as opposed to one or two large meals.
