Everybody has to decide that for themselves. If you are both adults and are responsible, then I don't think it matters if it is a first date or some time after the six month mark. So long as you can live with it what does it matter what other people think?.... However, since this is an opinion question, I would have to say the first date is fine but it would have to be one hell of a first date!
