Why do some people feel they need to tell some one OF ANY AGE, TO GROW UP, when they speak of mental illness? If it was someone with CANCER, HEART DISEASE, or DIABETES or any other medical issue, YOU WOULD NOT TELL THEM TO GROW UP OR GET OVER IT!! What is wrong with you people that feel you should say such ignorant things to others with mental health issues?

And it won't do you any good to tell me I don't know what I am talking about, I live with family members that have mental illness. You don't know what people deal with, UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN IN THEIR SHOES!!

NOTHING TO MAKE FUN OF!! LET'S SEE YOU MAKE FUN OF SOMEONE WHO HAS ANY OTHER MEDICAL ILLNESS & TELL THEM TO GET OVER IT, GROW UP!!

Shame on anyone that has made fun of any other person with mental illness, IT IS NOT A MADE UP MEDICAL ISSUE...IT IS REAL!!! Just as any other medical issue!!!

To those who have negative things to say about mental illness, ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO GROW UP!!!

~PEACE~

To "al" Yes it is ironic, how some people LIKE YOU...are ignorant and tell me to shut the f*ck up!!! And to add insult to injury....Learn to spell !!!

Oh sorry "al" you didn't tell me to SHUT the f*ck up... YOU TOLD ME TO GROW the f*ck up...but regardless it is people like you that only like to insult others, in my opinion, you have no empathy toward other people....

Bravo to you - very well said. I have a sister with mental illness and I was the "lucky" one to find her when she attempted to overdose. If anyone thinks that was how I wanted to spend my day, they are wrong! That is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy! It is devastating to live with someone who is mentally ill.

I haven't seen anyone say anything about this and I read quite a few of the Q & A's, but if they did, then I can certainly understand your outburst. I myself am bi-polar and have OCD. Its a wonderful combination let me tell you, but no, its not fun, its not a game. I don't know why anyone would say something like "grow up" unless someone had asked an odd question and didn't state that they had a mental illness.

I have just been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, I can relate. When people meet someone diagnosed with a condition that is not obvious (mental or physical) they want to deny that condition. If you have a condition that is invisible to someone else it may be a threat to them, just be patient.
