I had a dog who had it, but it was probably about 20 years ago when not much was known about the illness.

Unfortunately, I lost her, but that doesn't mean the same thing will to happen to your dog. As I said , it was a long, long time ago and there have been many advances made in veterinary field since then. . Don't give up hope.

Hugs and best wishes to you and your baby.

I had a dog with it. She lived for about a year after she was diagnosed, with 3 recurrences in that year. The mortality rate for AIHA is pretty high, like 60% or something like that. Some dogs do recover and never have any more trouble with it though.

My Vet used high doses of Pred and Azathioprine (during recurrencies).

I have not personally had a dog with AIHA, but have worked with many. They defiantly can recover, and they may never have a recurrence. I depends on the trigger which is often never identified.

How is your dog being treated? Was it vaccinated recently?
