Also I need some gift ideas. I dont want a bunch of crappy toys either that are going to accumilate. I am more interested in good quality toys, things that are going to be worth the money. Already have tons of whatever toys and I dont want to buy junk.
Any ideas?

For a boy: Construction
For your cake, ice it a light brown color and go buy some construction toy cars, you can get a whole set for a few dollars at walmart. Kinda make the icing rough so it looks like dirt on the construction site. Crumble up some cookies really fine to make loose dirt and place ontop of the cake. You could even get the long tootsie rolls and place on the back of one of your trucks and make it a log truck. Get poster board and construction paper and some paint and get creative. Make road construction signs for the walls. Use a black table cloth and paint white or yellow lines down the center like a road. Cut out some orange cones and some caution signs. Just have fun with it.

Sponge Bob
Go to walmart and get the square yellow sponge bob plates and table cloth and accessories. But then take it another step further and make it completely under the sea. The room you have it in should become the ocean. Take green streamers and hang shorter pieces down from the ceiling like sea weed, also put it up on the walls in wavy lines. Cut out some fun and colorful fish for the walls and to hang from the ceiling as well. For the cake get a sponge bob figure and see if you can find a little toy chest about the same size. Get some play necklaces and some chocolate coins and make it an under the sea treasure chest.
(this also could work for a girl for a barbie mermaidia or
little mermaid party)

For a girl: Princess party
Go crazy with pink and purple everything!! Steamers and table clothes and balloons. Make it frilly and fussy. Have a cake with a crown and make sure you have a matching one for the birthday girl. Go to walmart and get her one of those dress up play dresses and let her wear it to the party and put on the invitations for all the other little girls to come dressed in their best princess attire. Have dad dress up and greet the ladies at the door like prince charming.

Hope that helps some

For a 2 year old - a nice, small party with family and friends can be great. You don't have to buy your child junk. Go to your nearest Teachers Store and you can find early learning resources including books and toys that are educational and prepare your child for future learning experiences in preschool or kindgergarten. There's nothing wrong with introducing learning early as long as you're not pressuring them to perform at a certain level. If you're concerned about people you invite giving junky gifts - then request that they give to a charity for children that you support in lieu of a gift. You could in a very diplomatic way ask for gift cards when you send the invitations but you have to say it very carefully. Something like, "I have plenty of toys, the kinds of gifts I can really use are books, developmental toys, or a gift card to my favorite restuarant or store." - Your child's name. Then, if you do get junky toys - you can always give them away to the Salvation Army store. Hope these ideas help.

Good hard cover books are a great investment. They are educational and they will last if teach your child to take care of them. I'm not sure if you have a boy or a girl child? Sometimes it's fun to have a holiday themed party. If the BD is close to Halloween then have a costume party. If it's close to Thanksgiving have a Fall Festival in your back yard. If you have a little girl have a fairy party where the girls dress up. If you have a boy have a hoe down. You could roast hot dogs and make smores. Be creative and think outside the box.

Keep it very simple, you are dealing with a 2 year old who has the attention span of a goldfish. Cake and juice with a few friends is about all he can absorb and he won't remember any of it anyhow. The birthday party at this age is for the parents sake not the child.

Chuck-E-Cheese's worked well for our sons 2nd birthday. They have a separate area for the little ones and they have a blast.

The Pump It Up Place is a little too much for 2-yr olds.

Gift ideas: Outdoor climbers, wagon, big wheel bike, you get the idea

Pump It Up is a great place to have a child's birthday party! Not only will the birthday kid love it, but all of the guests (even the parents) will too!

Maybe you should donate some toys to poor kids who dont have any since you have a "TON". I would suggest staying away from Barney though as he is the DEVIL.
