I went out drinking with my coworkers, and wound up passing out on the back porch. Now I'm miserable! Any good ideas for getting rid of hangovers (besides not drinking)?
And before anyone gets judgemental on me, I had a very bad call that morning involving dead children. There's nothing like working a pediatric code first thing in the morning to ruin your day :(
I normally don't drink, but there are always exceptions...
Thanks for your answers!

Maybe I didn't make myself understood...the pediatric code is the CAUSE of my drinking. I'm not complaining about working a pedi code while hungover, I'm trying to deal with the aftermath of watching kids die...not easy.

I know dehydration is the cause, and fluids will fix it, but I don't get hungover (or drink that much, for that matter) very often, so I was just looking for advice from people who have been there. I'd try IV fluids, but I don't want to steal them off of the ambulance, and I'm a wee bit too nauseated to tolerate oral fluids right now.
Thanks!

Im sorry your day was so bad. That must of been really tough.

I find that if you eat a big greasy hamburger, it makes you feel better.

Avoid coffee...The caffine will only add to the tension in your head and make it worse. What you need is for your blood flow to relax. For every bottle you tossed last night. Drink 2 glasses of water. If you pee that out, drink some more. You need to get the alcohol out of your system and drinking water will do this. Dont drink juice either because that will add to the acidity that your body already is trying to cope with. Then take two tylenols...or advil...or whatever it is you normally take for headaches. Eat carbs...bread is good because it would soak up the alcohol that may still be in your stomach. Eat some red meat as well. It does the same thing. But most importantly...water.

First of all, it's a shame they let idiots like jessiewhatever on here. A huge cause of the bad feeling is dehydration. Drink as many fluids as you can. If you have had too much to drink, drink a big glass of water if you can before you pass out. (Sometimes not possible, I know).

What gives you the hang over is the thick blood in your system caused by the alcohol.

Aspirin will thin it out, but you will need lots of water to go along with it.

Slowly eat some greasy food. It soaks up the alcohol and drink water. I didn't think greasy food would work, but it did. I felt better quickly.
