First of all, anorexia is a mental illness AND an eating disorder. People who are truely suffering from anorexia DO NOT realize they have a problem until someone intervenes and they seek professional treatment. The symptoms you described are indeed signs of anorexia (thinning hair, missed periods, dental caries), but anorexia is not something you "do off and on." It is very serious, especially for young women, and sadly can result in death. Maybe you just need to see a nutritionist ?

You should really consult your doctor and he/she will better determine from your detailed eating habits as to whether or not you are anorexic.
If they suspect you are they will refer you to some good psychotheraphy and that will be very helpful.
Anorexia does not have effects unless you have been doing it for a while. So you should know how long you think you have been anorexic to see the symptoms.

A recent clinical review has suggested that psychotherapy is an effective form of treatment and can lead to restoration of weight, return of menses among female patients, and improved psychological and social functioning when compared to simple support or education programmes.
It would be advantage for you to seek professional help. Please, please do so, for your own good.
