Open to everything is a good idea when learning... but so is pleasing your teacher. If you dont get the grades you need it is going to be difficult to be invited to continue your education after this teacher is done with you. When you are in your teachers class, honor your teacher. When you are elsewhere then be open to everything. Remember that being open to everything means being open to your teacher too.

I don't know if I think you need to be completely open to everything but you need to be willing to hear it, regardless of how much it disagrees with your beliefs. You can definitely still learn a lot though without giving in to everything they tell you. Perhaps try putting yourself in someone else's shoes rather than just abandoning your beliefs....if any of that made any sense...haha.
